EXPO
The Exmouth kiters on behalf of the Exmouth Yacht Club
Are proud to be hosting
the Exmouth Expo.
WHEN & WHERE :
From the 2/10 - 8/10, there will be
a huge showcase of all the latest 2011 season gear at Sandy Bay in Cape Range
National Park, Exmouth, W.A.
Entrance fees do apply at the gate
into Cape Range National Park.

include, Airush, Naish, Slingshot, Liquid Force, Ozone, North, Core, Blade,
Wainman and Ocean Rodeo.
NIGHT TIME FUN :
Evening celebrations will carry on
at the over flow area at Yardie Homestead Caravan Park. BBQ's to cook your own
dinner, tunes and esky's with ice are provided with plenty of space to run
amuck. Make sure to bring your own chair!
SKIPPER'S MEETING
& LAST MINUTE REGOS :
The night time expo area will also
be the venue for the 9am-10am skipper's meetings along with last minute
registrations.
During this hour we will check out
wind predictions for the day and arrange any competitions.
The Exmouth kiters have come up
with some fun competitions to try throughout the week.
If a few crew wish to do down
winders this would be the perfect opportunity to arrange car-pooling.
LAST NIGHT - 8TH
OCTOBER :
The EXMOUTH EXPO will be winding up on Friday the 8th
Oct with the final night moving to the Exmouth Yacht Club at town beach.
Exmouth kiters along with the
Exmouth Yacht Club have arranged the licensed bar to be open along with
popular, local band - Fat Goat, to get everyone's foot tapping!
Definitely plan to book
accommodation in Exmouth town for this last night.

All participants will need a
Yachting Australia Silver card which includes $75000 personal accident
insurance. This can be obtained by joining Exmouth Yacht Club (adult $70, under
18 years $25). A $10 discount is available by registering before September

Spring Slalom Series

SPRING SLALOM SERIES
A WASURF event;
Spring slalom series, to be held the first 3 Saturdays of September and November that's the 4th, 11th, 18th, of September and the 2nd, 9th, 16th of November, with a possibility of running it throughout the summer. It will consist of a short slalom sprint figure 8 style with a experienced and intermediate length course and also a longer endurance slalom in the bay.
Meet us, that's the Wasurf team at the safety bay rigging area which is the big boat ramp @ 2.00pm for a brief rundown of the course and for WWA membership and insurance. http://www.windsurfing.org/insurance.htm We will also have some top of the range super fast Fanatic boards and North sails for you to demo
Requirements are that we strongly suggest a weedfin for sailing in Safety bay, which we also have at the shop if you need to purchase one or two.
Nearby facilities are a toilet block, fresh water to wash gear or to drink a deli across the road full of fresh cold drinks or steaming hot coffee, and also our windsurfing shop in case you need spares or wish to buy new gear.

Stand Up Paddle Sports are hosting a free demo day this Sunday (5th September) at Dutch Inn (car park by the Cottesloe south groyne) from 9am till 12pm.
This is a great opportunity to try out some of the latest boards from the top brands Starboard and Naish. We will have boards ranging from Performance surf shapes to the allround cross over boards, something for everyone! There will even be some wetsuits available, so there really is no excuse not to give it a go!
We will include the Hokua 9'3" x 29" and Mana 9'5" x 31" from Naish, and the following from Starboard:
Pro Wave: 7'4" x 32", 8'5" x 29", 9'1" x 29", 9'8" x 29", 10'3" x 29".
Wave: 8'5" x 30" (Pocket Rocket), 9' x 30" (Converse), 9' x 33" (Hero), 9'8" x 30" (Element), 10' x 34" (Whopper), 10'5" x 30" (Drive), 11'2" x 36" (Avanti).
All Round: 11'2" x 30" (Blend), 12'6" x 30" (Cruiser).
The forecast is looking good and will hopefully provide some fun waves on the reefs. For those newcomers to the sport, the water remains fairly calm off the beach, but we will also be holding a flat water demo at Pelican Point Crawley (by UWA) on the Swan River next Sunday 12th September from 9am to 12pm.
This demo will run from 9am until 12pm.

Mackerel Islands Game Fishing Tourn
|
The Mackerel Islands Game Fishing Tournament will take place on September 12th - 18th. This is a sanctioned light lined tournament with a maximum line class of 8 kgs.
Tournament rules will be based on current GFAA rules and all anglers must be registered with a club that is affiliated with WAGFA.

Cat Classic 2010 At Nedlands Yc

The Hobie Cat Association of Western Australia invites all sailors of under 6.8m catamarans to sail in the annual Hobie Cat Association of Western Australia Catamaran Classic at the Nedlands Yacht Club, on Sunday September 26 and Monday September 27 2010

Sun 26 and Mon 27 Sep (holiday weekend) - Annual Cat Classic Regatta. Come join boats 22 ft / 6.8 m and under for 2 days of racing on the Swan River.

Nedlands Yacht Club offers a Yachting Australia certified Junior "Get Into Small Boat Sailing" (GISBS) over five mornings during the school holidays.
Students:
* 8 years and up
* Capable of swimming 25 meters
* Minimum of 8 students and maximum of 12 students
* Equipment, life jacket, sailboat and hot shower facilities provided by NYC
* 2 Yachting Australia certified instructors
* Training runs 5 mornings and teaches students at learning Level 1 and Level 2 skills
* Public $225 for first session, $115 for additional sessions. We recommend students take 2 sessions. Sessions do not need to be taken in sequence.
* All youth participants receive free junior membership for the sailing season Sep through Apr
We use Yachting Australia accredited coaches and we provide all equipment including Pacer sailing dinghies and Personal Flotation Devices (life jackets) for all attendees. Junior classes have two instructors to ensure safety and customize training to the various levels.
All of our training is conducted in the beautiful and protected waters of the Swan River on the Nedlands foreshore. Sailing is a social sport with many students enjoying the small-team atmosphere.
Students will receive a Yachting Australia logbook to track course progress. The logbook can be used at NYC or any club that teaches Yachting Australia certified courses.
What's Next?
NYC offers great follow-on programs for sailors who want to learn more, such as
* Transition to Racing workshop
* An affordable youth sailboat lease program, used boats for sale and weekly racing during the September to April sailing season
* Family Social Sailing - 2 Sunday mornings a week where current or graduated Learn to Sail students can bring friends of family for a fun sail or practice. NYC coach will customize activities.
NYC prefers parents are on site during training.
Bring snacks, water, sunblock, towel, change of clothes. Non-sailing friends and family are welcome to enjoy the facility and bring food before, during and after class. Free parking. Public playground adjacent to boat storage yard.

We have started taking emails for those interested in the expo.
It's already looking to be bigger than last year so best to register your interest early.
Further details will be sent out to those who have registered their interest closer to the date.
So far:
The dates are set at 2/10/10 to 8/10/10
There will be a skippers meeting each morning at Yardie Homestead Caravan Park where we will decide on each days activity.
Sandy Bay will be our main testing ground for next seasons gear, however we will most likely spend some time at graveyards if the swell calls,
The final night (Friday) is at the Exmouth Yacht Club where there will be a band and prizes for god knows what,

* Training runs 6 mornings and teaches students Level 1 and Level 2 small boat sailing skills
* Fee public $225 or $115 NYC members in good standing.
We use Yachting Australia accredited coaches and we provide all equipment including Pacer sailing dinghies and Personal Flotation Devices (life jackets) for all attendees.
All of our training is conducted in the beautiful and protected waters of the Swan River on the Nedlands foreshore.

* Crew 3 times for free. Try racing as a crew on a cruiser, sport keelboat, catamaran or dinghy with our experienced members. No experience or training necessary for cruiser crew.
* New social sailing program being launched in 2010. Get on the water with other sailboats on a non-racing day and have a relaxing sail. Details to be announced at nyc.org.au

Participation:
- Open to adult and junior helmsman / skippers that are taking or have passed a Yachting Australia "Get Into Small Boat Sailing" (GISBS) course at any YA certified club in Australia
- $20 per person / $40 per boat per practice session
- 3 boats minimum / 2 sailors per boat* / 6 people minimum
- Practice will only be held with a minimum number of pariticpants
- Coach reserves the right to remove boats from the water or cancel the class if the weather conditions are too difficult or helmsman / skipper does not have safe skills
* 3 sailors per boat when at least one of the sailors, crew or guest is a youth

How to Register:
Registration is $20 per person
Helmsman / skippers can register for yourself and your crew by giving your (1) first and last name and (2) the date you are taking or you completed Yachting Australia's Get Into Small Boat Sailing course.
If you need crew, please let us know. No membership is required.
Payment and registration must be completed by 3 PM the Friday prior to practice date. You can register for multiple dates and dates do not need to be in sequence. Refunds will be given if the practice cannot be filled.
