Brighton Kite Club Sign-Up

This Saturday the ALL NEW Brighton Kite Club is having a sign up day at Brighton. (19th Ave, Brighton).

Come on down to join the club - You get a heap of benefits like access to the ride days, comps and events - PLUS AKSA INSURANCE!
How awesome is that! 12 months of insurance - for $65 - cheap as!

The two best kite shops in Brisbane will be there - Briskites and Kitepower QLD. With vans chock full of demo gear for you to try - 2011 gear from Airush, Cabrinha, Core, Naish, North, Ozone, Slingshot, Starboard and Underground will be there (and maybe more). Come down early to check it all out - look for the packed out beach!

The clubs putting on a BBQ after the speechy bits finish, and make sure you grab a few tickets for the raffle - $1 each - for your chance to win some cool prizes from the shops, and local businesses. Money goes to getting the club up and running so we can keep YOU riding at everyones favorite beach - BRIGHTON!!!

The 2010/11 Queensland Kiteboard Racing Series One

 

 

1. VENUE:

Sandgate, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

 

2. DATE:

Saturday 25th September 2010 (Reserved dates: Sunday 26th September, 2nd and 3rd October 2010).

 

3. ORGANISING AUTHORITY:

Surf Connect.

 

4. RULES:

The 2010 Queensland Kiteboard racing Series will be based on the rules as defined in The ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing.

 

5. ELIGIBILITY AND CATEGORIES

The event is open to all riders using a suitable kite and board. Categories will be Juniors (under 19), Girls, Rookie and Pros. Pros category include
sponsored riders, and instructors.

 

6. ENTRY FEE:

Juniors (under 19):              $20 (with free shirt and competitor's gift pack)

Seniors (19+):                       $30 (with free shirt and competitor's gift pack)

 

7. RACE FORMAT AND COURSE:

Race format will be in heats of 4 to 6 competitors per race with the winner and/or the runner up qualify to the next round. Course will be set as windward return course.

 

8. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

Sailing instructions will be available at the riders meeting and posted on the race board.

 

9. COMPETITOR NUMBERS:

Competitors MUST display their competitor numbers on their shirts.

 

10. PENALTY SYSTEM

10.1 The scoring penalties will apply as defined in the IKA race rule

10.2 Decisions of the protest committee will be final.

 

11. SCORING

The scoring system will be a low point scoring system. There shall be one discard for every four races completed.

Dependent upon the number of discards permitted, the highest then second highest scores are discarded. The lowest total score, with discards if taken into account wins. Any tied positions in the event will be decided in favour of the competitors who have won the most number of races, or the most number of seconds etc until the tie is broken.

 

12. PRIZES

Prizes and certificates are awarded to winners of each category.

 

13. ADVERTISING AND COMPETITORS SHIRTS

Riders may be required to wear and/or display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority.

 

14. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

Competitors participate in the event entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the event.

 

15. INSURANCE

Each participating must provide proof of insurance cover or valid membership card of their national kiteboarding association. Accepted memberships are IKO, AKSA and BKSA.

 

16. PROGRAM:

Registration 11:00am

Briefing 11:30am

Possible First Race Start: 12:00nn

 

Soft drinks and a BBQ will be provided free of charge to all competitors after the event. Prize giving Ceremony one hour after the last race (approx 4.30pm).

 

17. ENQUIRIES AND ENTRY:

Email info@surfconnect.com for entry form. All entries must be received with full payment and proof of insurance by 19th September 2010. No late entries allowed.
