Pelican Point Summer Twilight

Pelican Point Summer Twilight Series
10th and 17th of December.
14th, 21st and 28th of January.
Briefing 5.50 Start 6.00pm
We are organizing a Wednesday night twilight series during December and January. Why should the Yachties have all the fun?
* This is just for fun and is designed to attract sailors that want a bit of fun not for the ultra competitive.
* We will get on the water at 6.00 whatever the wind. o Windy = slalom/freeride gear. o Light = big boards. o Super Light = Stick your rig on a SUP (Stand Up Paddle board) o No Wind = Sup Race (board and paddle supplied)
We will be starting and will have a course to sail as per a normal race, so you can get the feel of how racing works. We will have a number of the top sailors sailing, so you can pick up a few tips and we will have a score board to put your finishing position. So it is great training for the real thing.
Ever tried using a GPS to record your highest speed? Windsurfing WA has six GPS units that are available to borrow, so you can see how your speed compares with other sailors. We will keep the results and see how you improve during the season
In the same way the yacht clubs attract experienced and experienced sailors all just wanting to have some fun we are going to do the same. Bring down some mates or come down by yourself everyone welcome
Don't forget to bring along some drinks and nibbles so we can all catch up latter for a chat. We might even organise some pizza for the first week.
SMALL PRINT This is not an organised race. it is a social get together that is all about being safe and having fun. Every sailor is responsible for their own safety and should only sail within their capabilities. Be aware at all times of other water users, it is your responsibility to be safe on the water. By suggesting this get together we are in no way taking any responsibility for yours or others safety.

Lancelin Ocean Classic
|
Situated 110km north of Perth, Lancelin is an internationally renowned windsurfing location, famous for the annual Ledge Point to Lancelin Ocean Classic. With a field of over three hundred competitors the 'Classic' is the biggest windsurfing event in Australia. Lancelin and Ledge Point have become very popular, particularly as a base for European windsurfers who spend two to three months in WA each summer. The large bay in Lancelin is surrounded by shallow limestone reefs and provides a picturesque learning and slalom area whilst the waves around the passages are ideal for huge jumps and easy riding. Its proximity to Perth is a bonus! The Lancelin sailing beach offers both flat water sailing and wave sailing. As well as the main sailing area there are several wave sailing spots such as 'Hole in the Wall' and 'South Passage'. Sailors can also sail on the back beach, or throughout the main Lancelin Bay (wind and reef permitting).
The main windsurfing beach is known as Windsurfer's Beach and features
an inshore flat water area. Close to the beach and the wave area behind
the waves average 1-2 metres breaking onto reefs. To the right
is the wave area called 'Hole in the Wall'. This reef break attracts
less sailors and often has better swell conditions. Further north but
still just south of Lancelin Island is 'South Passage'. Again
this attracts fewer sailors, but the conditions are generally good.
South passage presents a great riding wave, assuming you keep going
left. If you don't you might hit the reef in shore.
