Talin was your normal everyday 5-year-old until out of the blue he collapsed in the school playground around Easter this year, and after some scans was diagnosed with a rare, inoperable and deadly brain stem tumour. Talin was undergoing daily radiotherapy until a decision was made to stop treatment and move him into palliative care with Doctors saying he only has weeks to live. Talin’s family have all moved to Bear Cottage with him for the duration of his life to make the most of his days. The tumour has already taken its toll, robbing him of the ability to walk. He is also suffering a myriad of other symptoms, including nausea, headaches and extreme tiredness.
Talin’s Rose – Paddle for life is to raise funds for Talin’s family and in the future, families like his as they courageously battle cancer, but it could also raise awareness for organisations like Bear Cottage who help families cope with the impossible – to care for a child who has a life-limiting illness.
