Longboard
Masters Set To Walk The Plank At The Maili Masters
Rainbow Bay will be the venue for the 5th annual
Maili Masters on September 8th & 9th. A new division the Kapunas
(grandfathers) is being included to cater for aging surfers who still wish to amaze
other surfers as well as spectators as they glide across the waves Hanging Ten
for the next two days.
When they aren't in the water these salt encrusted
will be treated to a meet and greet on the Friday evening in the penthouse of
the award winning Maili Skyhomes. There they will be able to survey the
weekends contest arena as well as glimpse a sneak preview of Last Paradise, a
major surf movies by Clive Neeson.
With surfers like 1962 Bells Champion Doug Andrews
coming from the Sunshine
Coast to catch up with
Rip Curl co founder Doug Warbrick in the waves, the emphasis will be on having
fun rather than winning.
Saturday will see some on beach entertainment with
the Coolangatta Ukulele Club before competitors and friends belt out a few Karaoke
tunes with Sydney's
Dave Fraser upstairs at the Rainbow Bay SLSC.
