Qld anglers reminded bass are off limits for three months

From 1 June till midnight 31 August 2010 Australian bass are off limits in Queensland waters due to the aggregations of fish taking place during spawning.

While the closed season is applicable to all Queensland waters there's another way people can get onto fish all year-round and that's if fish are taken within Queensland's 22 listed waterways.

This includes those waterways upstream of:

  • Baroon Pocket
  • Bjelke-Petersen
  • Boondooma
  • Borumba
  • Cania
  • Cressbrook
  • Fred Haigh (Lake Monduran)
  • Gordonbrook
  • Hinze
  • Lenthalls
  • Maroon
  • Moogerah
  • North Pine
  • Somerset
  • Wuruma and Wivenhoe dams
  • Claude Wharton and Jones weirs
  • Isis Balancing Storage (Lake Gregory)
  • Clarendon, Dyer (Bill Gunn Dam) and MacDonald lakes

Don't forget permits are required to fish these impoundments.
