South Oz anglers reminded of November snapper ban
South Australian anglers are being reminded by PIRSA that the annual closed season for snapper will again take place during November. The closure commences at midday on Sunday 1 November and continues through to midday Monday 30 November and applies to all recreational, commercial and charter fishing sectors.

According to General Manager of PIRSA Fisheries Management the closure contributes to the sustainable management of snapper stocks by allowing a proportion of larger mature fish the freedom to migrat and aggregate in the lead up to the spawning period.

Indicators suggest the closure is having a positive impact on stocks with better than average recruitment in recent years.

Anyone noticing illegal fishing activity can report it through the 24-hour FISHWATCH number on 1800 065 522.
