Thousands of Pink Snapper released along WA coastline

"Say thanks to Recfish West when you're reeling in a Snapper next season, and whoever the angler was who donated to the cause!"
In the next 12 months, WA is going to be a cracker of a place to catch some decent Pink Snapper!

In a crowdfunding effort that will go down in the history books, Recfish West raised over $33,000 and successfully reared and released thousands of juvenile Pink Snapper off Woodman Point this weekend. Smashing their goal of $25,000, the organization with the sole purpose of improving recreational fishing in Western Australia, have set a benchmark for other regions in the country and showed that anglers are prepared to put money down when in comes to catching great quality fish at their local spot.

Not just relying on support financially, the group also asked volunteers to help transport the little fish from the specially designed trailer in the carpark down to the water. Support was overwhelming, with most of the volunteers sporting t-shirts and apparel from the crowdfunding campaign, as they eagerly ran back and forth down the beach transporting fish.

Over the next couple of weeks the WA Department of Fisheries have made available their boats to distribute the rest of the fish to various reefs and areas known for having some great sea grass growing, with approximately half of the fish already in the water, and the rest swimming strong in tanks ready to go, it won't be long before they're all out in the big-ol'-blue.
