WA abalone season underway till 6 December
From 7am to 8am every Sunday from November 1 till December 6 Western Australia's West Coast abalone zone waters are open to recreational abalone fishers.

The zone extends from the Busselton Jetty through to the Greenough River Mouth south of Geraldton.

Fishers who choose to target abalone on metropolitan reefs should be aware of the weather and swell conditions, last year a number of near-drownings were luckily averted.

Bag limits for abalone during this season are:
  • Roe's abalone - 20 per fisher per day, 60mm legal size limit
  • Greenlip or Brownlip abalone - 5 per fisher per day, 140mm legal size limit
Abalone fishers also need to make sure they have the appropriate licence available for $44.00 which can be purchased online or from any Fisheries office. .
