WA marron season kicks off - and for longer!
Western Australia's marron season kicked off at noon on Friday 8th January and runs till noon on Friday 5 February - a period three days longer than last year.

Marron are a freshwater crayfish unique to Western Australia and the south-west of the State will become a popular haunt for anglers over the next month as they seek out these tasty crustaceans.

While the length of the period has changed bag and size limits remain unchanged (bag limit - 10, min carapace size - 80mm) but some locations designated as 'trophy waters' require a legal minimum carapace size of 90mm and bag limit of five.

All anglers also require a current marron licence which can be purchased online from the Department of Fisheries.

For more information on bag limits, fishing locations, catch care and licences visit the Fisheries Website.
