Welcome to the L’orange Speed Crossing Pro-am Longue Distance. A conjoined event with the PKRA Freestyle competition in Leucate, France this weekend.

It's been around for ages, in fact it started 16 years ago as a windsurfing event. Back then butter flat water and perfect downwind angles of the Leucate beach this time of year were like heaven to the flat rocketed slalom boards used at the time. But as kites took over, the speeds rose and now the windsurfers are only a minor part of the event every year.

This year is set to be the biggest in the events history, with over 100 kiters expressing interest in the racing alone, plus all the competitors in the PKRA freestyle event, Stand up paddling races and of course the slow old windsurfers who just want to keep up with the kites. It should prove to be a great event this year, so check back later in the month when we'll bring you the videos and reports from the speed racing.
