Eric Rienstra is Fully Automatic (Slingshot)
Sliders are his thing, and riding for Slingshot in the Hood River, he’s got plenty to work with thanks to the incredible slider setup they’ve created over the years. Along with his mates, the wakestyle scene is stronger than anywhere in the world over there, and as a result we see the skill level improving faster than elsewhere. In this video, followed by videographer Nate Appel, he journeys to warmer pastures with sessions in South America, Europe, Brazil and the good ol’ US of A to showing the locals how it’s done.
The thing we most appreciate, is the shots featuring Mr Rienstra getting up close and personal with his mates, the plankton. Time after time he seems to enjoy smooshing his eyes back into their sockets, blasting out his sinuses with the salty elixir we like to call water and even getting a little too closely acquainted with the obstacles. Between the beatings, get ready to observe some of the best wakestyle riding you shall ever see. It’s smooth, beautifully executed and done (of course) with a blatant disregard for the kite. It’s just a power source after all, one that has a nasty habit of steering around the sky during tricks.
