From niche to mainstream: Kiteboating is here!

Is this the future of kite racing?
After several companies have tried to modify catamarans, hydrofoils and even outriggers, one company from the Netherlands has just released a monohull version, and it might be just the thing that brings kiteboating from niche to mainstream.

They call it the Kite Tender, and the 4.4m long dinghy seats two. Designed by Peter Schermer, the Kite Tender costs just under 5000 euro, plus you need to supply your own kite and for that, you’ll get up to 25 knots of boat-speed in the right conditions. The appeal of bringing a friend along is by far the biggest draw card of the idea, as well as the added safety and comfort of having a boat to sit in. On paper, this look like a winner, but will it take off? Check out the video below and let us know what you think in the forums!
