Ruben and Kevin go storm chasing

When news of a once-in-a-lifetime storm hit the headlines this week, Kevin Langeree and Ruben Lenten got on the first flight out to Ireland, with 5m kites in their bags and a film crew in tow to film the lot.

They called it the Black Wednesday Swell, and right now the North Altantic is experiencing waves up to 12m high, and winds in excess of 50 knots. The perfect recipe for two crazies on kiteboarding kites! Ruben Lenten, the man known world wide for throwing insane kite-loops called ‘Mega-Loops’, and Kevin Langeree, winner of last years Red Bull King of the Air kiteboarding competition, are two kiters who have the skills to tackle such conditions. The pair are filming a new movie for release online in the next few months, and it’s all about chasing down the most extreme conditions possible.

After a hectic session yesterday, the crew are resting before round two tomorrow.

“Wow it was a wild ride today and I learned a lot.” Reported Ruben Lenten last night.
“The storm didn't quite serve us the conditions that we dreamed and had nightmares about as the angle of the wind wasn't right and it was gusty as hell... all in all we tried our hardest and it was epic to see Kevin Langeree going on a mission way out back. Let's hope for better rides and flights tomorrow.”

Stay tuned to see what the pair get up to, you can guarantee it will be incredible!
