We predicted it, yep - sure as the windless winter, Real watersports announced three wildcard entrants to the annual Triple-S event this week; including Andre Phillips protege Jake Kelsick.
Jake's been at the forefront of wakestyle riding ever since he burst onto the scene in around '05ish. Riding in and around Antigua in the West indies - Dre's been training him up to be a little mini me. Slipping and sliding his way into the first wildcard spot - we were actually surprised he didn't make the original cut, but anyway - he's in.
Second on the list - was Californian strapless star Patrick Rebstock. If you've never seen him ride, do yourself a favour and google him. He has been spotted on bindings on occasion, but Patrick's made the cut for his wave riding, which is nothing short of wizardry - he rides without straps, and his extensive background in surfing flows through his kiting style, smooth as and always in the critical sections - Patrick's going to be one to watch.
Last up, a self confessed international superstar and a blast from the past - Niccolo Porcella. He's only 21 but he's been around for ever, and you've probably seen him riding in a ton of kiteboarding movie productions like Ten4 and the unhooked series. Growing up in Maui he's spent his kiting career riding with the greats, plus he made an insane entry video which snatched him the final spot in the 2011 Triple-S.
Check out the winning video's below - and stay tuned for all the latest news and spy shots from the event starting on June 4th.
