This silver bullet is NOT a submarine, it's a superyacht!

"This is the latest superyacht from Heesen Yachts, and it's setting out to break new ground in luxury, and efficiency."
Don't be fooled by it's bare aluminum finish, this beast is not your average tinny, nor is it the latest concoction dreamed up for a villain in a James Bond movie. This is the latest superyacht from Heesen Yachts, and it's setting out to break new ground in luxury, and efficiency.

Ultra efficient design, hybrid engines, and a ride that's promised to be silky smooth and silent. That's the sales pitch provided by the manufacture, as they release a video this week of the two halves of the yacht named 'Project Nova' being joined. It's certainly eye catching in its current state, unpainted and showing off the incredible technology that's gone into creating the world quietest super yacht.

Using generators to drive electric motors, Project Nova will be able to cruise at 9 knots (admittedly, in the mid to slow range for a super-yacht), but the caveat is, it can do it burning only 45 litres per hour! That's mere sipping for a yacht weighing nearly 500 tons on launch day, compared to others with traditional diesel engines (which would be in the 100-150l per hour). Consider that a trip from Brisbane to Hamilton Island takes over 60 hours at that speed, Project Nova could save their owners thousands of liters of fuel per trip.

Expected to be launched (for real, with paint this time) around this time next year, Project Nova currently has no owner. Of course a price won't ever be published for the super yacht, but you can be sure of one thing - it's going to be purchased by someone with lots, and lots of money…
