Costume party at the Noosa Festival of Surfing 2014

This weekend will be SUP's time to shine at the NFS.
The sleepy coastal mecca of Noosa is beginning to stir, with the annual Noosa Festival of Surfing waking up this Saturday at the iconic First Point break on the Sunshine coast.

The six day festival encompasses all kinds of surf craft from 14ft SUP board, down to little five foot nothing shapes in the juniors shortboard divisions. Boards aside, it’s the celebration of surfing as a broader concept that makes the Noosa Festival of surfing such a huge event, everyone’s invited and everybody feels included.

Aside from the competitive surfing, there's live music at the beach bar, trade shows, movie premieres and of course, don't forget the dog surfing competition. Which usually draws more spectators than the surfing competitions themselves.

New this year is the “Little Humid Dress-Up” Competition. Run this Saturday the 8th of March, with the finals the following (and final) Saturday, the aim is to have a few laughs on the water with surfers dressing up as whatever they wish. If anything could bring out a bigger crowd than dog surfing, it’s this. Check out the video below to see what we mean!

It's all kicking off this Saturday with Battle of the Paddle racing off First Point, finals will be run on Sunday, and then for the rest of the festival it’s left to the ‘normal’ surfers (they call themselves that anyway) on shortboards and long boards. We'll bring you all the results and action as it comes to hand.
