Adrenalin 360 Grom Comp Surf & Skate Avalon 15-16 March 2014

Adrenalin 360
Surf and Skate Competition
Avalon Beach and Skatepark on 15-16 March.

Divisions are U12 to U16 for guys and girls in both Surf and Skate, with competitors coming from as far away as Pacific Palms, Forster.
The aim of the event is to put Avalon Beach back on the Surfing Map where it rightly belongs as an iconic surfing
destination and at the same time provide much a needed competition for youth on Sydney’s Northern Beaches
The Groms can enter in either the Adrenalin 360 Surf Comp, the Adrenalin 360 Skate Comp or enter both for a chance to become the Adrenalin 360 King or Queen

This is our second year and the Comp grown to a full weekend event, incorporating a Longboard Comp and a Scooter Comp on the Sunday to become the Avalon Festival of Surf

Adrenalin Inception Longboard Classic
North Avalon on Sunday 16 March

After last year's success the longboarder community have gotten on board, so we’ve created a brand new Longboard comp for juniors and adults: the Adrenalin Inception Longboard Classic
Divisions are Open High Performance, Over 35, Over 50 and Single Fin Log, for traditional malibu riding style. Junior divisions are Junior High Performance, Junior Log and there is an Open Division for Women.
Competitors who are entered in both the Open and the Single Fin Log with the highest combined score, will take the title of Adrenalin Inception Longboard Classic Big Kahuna or Junior Kahuna
The comp is called ‘Inception’ because the first demonstration of malibu riding in Australia was put on by the American Olympic team at Avalon in 1956 after the Avalon Surf Carnival that day.

Avalon Festival of Surf - The Birth of Surf
Avalon Bowling Club from 7pm Saturday 15 March

To help celebrate the rich heritage of surfing culture in Avalon, the Avalon Historical Society are putting on a film and talk night at the Avalon Bowling Club from 7pm with vintage newsreel footage showing the history of surfing in Avalon and Australia (including the Toothpick era!) I've seen the movie, it seriously rocks and should be seen by anyone with a love of surfing. There will also be a talk from some of the locals who were there (and competed) on that amazing day in 1956 when the 'Yanks' first surfed across the waves on their Malibus. Something that had NEVER been seen in Australia before.
The Bowling Club are also putting on steak sangas, some clips from award winning surf film maker Tim Bonython and hopefully some footage of the groms from Saturday’s comp.
