"The Best I've ever seen it" Says Kelly Slater

When Mr Slater speaks, everyone listens. So when he says Round Three of competition at Teahupoo was possibly the best day ever, it must have been good.

Any day that a surfer scores several 10.0 rides has got to be good, and it didn’t just happen to Slater, John John spent so long in a cavernous barrel that we thought he’d gone on holidays. Mick Fanning took one of the most incredible drops we’ve ever seen, and then the swell got so big the world’s elite were pulling back! Round three of the ASP Billabong Pro Tahiti was the stuff legends are made from; and thanks to an incredible stroke of luck, it just so happened to coincide with the worlds best surfers coming to town.

To get an idea on just how good it was: Imagine one heat with a combined total of 39.54. Of course with two surfers being scored out of 10 on two waves each, the only thing better could have been a score of 40, but we’ll forgive Kelly Slater and John John Florence for the 0.46 points they gave up between them. Imagine cavernous barrels, crystal clear faces and the deepest, gnarliest takeoffs you’ve ever seen. We’ll bet surfers worldwide are gonna’ be talking about this heat over the surf club bar for the next decade. At least.

Teahupoo is one of the best waves in the world, and when it’s on, some would say it’s THE best big left you can find anywhere.

Kelly slater agrees, and we think you will too after watching this highlight reel from the ASP Billabong Pro.
