Which surfer will ring the Bell? Bells Beach Pro

It’s about to go off at Bells, while the worlds best women paddle out in the 2 to 4 foot swell, the men are wet-suiting up for tomorrow’s dawn patrol session, which you can watch live!

This years (and the 54th!) Bells Beach Pro is set to be a battle between the world number one, Gabriel Medina and Tahitian born Michel Bourez who won the Margaret River pro earlier this month. Don’t worry, all your old Aussie favorites will be there too including the great Taj Burrow, Owen Wright and Mick Fanning. Conditions will be small, but classic Bells beach waves according to the event organisers, which suit our locals perfectly.

Today the women fought it out in small waves, with 4 of the 6 heats being won by Aussie girls! Steph Gilmour, Sally Fitzgibbons, Dimity Stoyle and Nikki Van Dijk all advance to round two tomorrow. Notably surfing today, was event rookie Dimity Stoyle, who would come out of the gates firing in Round 1, smashing Rincon by busting out a combination of forehand turns and powerful slashes, earning 7.83 points for her efforts. After a second wave scoring even higher, it put her on a seemingly untouchable level to reigning two-time ASP Women's World Champion Carissa Moore and wildcard Zoe Clarke.

Who will ring the bell at the end of this week? Will the rookie Stoyle come from nowhere to win the event? And will the Aussie men take out the Brazillian and the Tahitian guys on their home turf?

Watch it unfold live here, or check back later in the week for all the results, photos and reports from the Bells Beach Pro, and Bells Beach Womens Pro, on this week down south in Victoria.
