This hidden windsurfing islands of New Caledonia are located in the southwest of the Pacific Ocean, around 1500 km off the east coast of Australia. The picturesque islands boast crystal clear turquoise water, lush vegetation, golden sands, consistent warm wind and some of the largest lagoons in the world, making them the ideal location for dream like windsurfing conditions.
One sailor lucky enough to hail from these glorious islands is PWA new boy Fred Morin (Starboard/ NeilPryde). Morin made his debut on the PWA this season at the Ulsan world cup in Korea and in Alacati Turkey, where he secured two impressive 31st places. Morin feels that his time with the PWA has 'dramatically improved his slalom sailing' and he 'learns something new everyday'. Those new found skills have obviously paid off as Morin has just managed to beat fifty-three competitors to win the New Caledonian slalom champion title on his Starboard iSonic.
Keep an eye on Morin in 2012, he has had a taste of victory and he will be training hard all winter so he can test his skills against the worlds best, and take on the whole slalom tour next season.
