SYNOPTIC ANALYSIS Analysis
SYNOPTIC SITUATION:
An approaching middle level disturbance ahead of a weak cold front is producing
isolated showers and thunderstorms over the eastern Great Southern, Southeast
Coastal district and adjacent South Coastal district. The showers and
thunderstorms will extend to remaining eastern and central parts of the SW Land
Division, southern Gascoyne and southwest Goldfields this afternoon. Some
morning drizzle is also expected about western parts of the South Coastal
district. The cold front should reach the SW Capes later this evening bringing
some scattered showers.
Showers and thunderstorms will continue in the Kimberley and eastern Interior,
extending into the remainder of the Interior, east Pilbara and far east Eucla in
the afternoon. Isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms are also possible in
the far west inland Pilbara.
PROGNOSIS
Prognosis
FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS:
Showers and thunderstorms will become more frequent overnight Monday and into
Tuesday morning across the eastern half of the SW Land Division, but will
contract eastwards to lie only over the far eastern Southeast Coastal District
by the afternoon. Thunderstorms are also expected through areas of the state
east of a line from Karratha to Meekatharra to Norseman. Isolated showers are
likely near the western south coast in the onshore flow and are also possible
near the west coast between Perth and Geraldton early in the morning with the
remnants of the front.
On Wednesday a ridge of high pressure will lie south of the state. Isolated
showers and thunderstorms are expected over a large chunk of the state away from
the west and southwest - roughly over areas east of a line from Onslow to
Dalwallinu to Israelite Bay. Dry easterly winds will clear activity from the
eastern Kimberley.
Thunderstorm activity on Thursday should cover areas of the Pilbara, northeast
Gascoyne, northeast Goldfields, Eucla, western Interior and western Kimberley.
