The Queensland government has announced it will put fluoride in the water supply from next year. Quite apart from the moral issue of mass medicating the whole population, I cannot drink fluoridated water for various other health related reasons. Does anyone know of a filter system which will remove fluoride? Has anyone successfully fought local or State governments on this issue? So far I've just come up against the predictable bureaucratic brick wall. Any input would be appreciated.

install a water tank, drink rainwater. i don't think it is feasible to 'filter' the fluoride out once its in solution.

In Carnarvon they are trying to introduce fluoride but the residents seem to be winning the battle against the mass medication. Not sure what their secret is but it's probably down to the voice of numbers. Maybe check with the local paper(Northern Guardian) they might be able to give you some tips.

Yep rain waters nice... the rotting leaves, dust, mosquitoes, pollution fallen on the roof and the bird droppings add a distinctive taste that people seem to enjoy.

Drained my mates tank recently,,found 3 dead rats, really decomposed, been in there rotting away for months and months after falling in and drowning. They had been drinking the water, showering, letting their 2 young kids drink it etc, full of rotten rat goo and guts. He said to me "What ever you do,,,,dont tell my misses, she has been saying the water smells funny, and I told her she's dreaming,,,,,she will kill me if she finds out". Is silence worth a carton????

Yes it is if you share it. My parents home isn't on town water so they collect rainwater into tanks. When I was younger and living there we once experienced the water smelling strange and tasting aweful. So we drained the tanks and found a rotting snake down there After cleaning out the mess we then built a trap and filtering system to stop animals from getting in there.

Dont worry about the rat's. Just wack a squirt of toothpaste in your tank and all will be clean.

Have been drinking rainwater in Exmouth for the last 4 weeks, the rainwater does not go into the tanks until sufficient water has washed down the shed roof ( huge one that is), would have to be the cleanest water I've seen. There is no comparason to bottled water, that has a different taste!' My mate suplies water for his family all year from a 3000ltr tank, it, even in exmouth ,doesn't run out . It's definitely rainwater for me

3000 litres wouldn't be enough to keep you going for long. Maybe its 30,000? Yeah rainwater is good. Plus you don't get a $145 water bill every 3 months which is for $5 water and $140 sewerage charge. That is a lot of sh!t.

Lets not forget Mrs Marsh and her famous chalk dipped in paint demonstration. A woman of science of her calibre should not be disregarded lightly.

I had the pleasure of rain water all year round in Kuri Bay...it's the best...hate it on my hair though lol it makes it too soft and fly's around my head like I have stuck my finger in a light socket... We get all our drinking water from a farm 140k's from Perth it only costs us the petrol to cart it...and I don't get sick on it like I do on town water. Cassa Hope all went well with the move to Exmouth....made be a thread with some photos of Exmouth from you soon

If you read up about "reverse osmosis water filter " far as I can remember you can put a major one, inline, before the water comes into the home and it takes out 99% of Flouride...

Hey Elroy, that's interesting. It is a good question why Oliver would paste that, given (at least I think its correct) that he's in Vic? The other question is why you would go to the effort of googling what he wrote. Do you do that to everything he writes?

So is oliver just a cross dresser? Or a tranny? (short for Transylvanian I think) or just undecided? Maybe the "health related reasons" are that the fluoride reacts badly with the sex change hormones. I can understand that.

Yep I was wondering about that too.

Oliver has been a smoker for many years. Tobacco smoke contains over 4000 different chemicals. He would have been a crazy nutbag if he was paranoid about small amounts of one chemical found in drinking water affecting his health and not paranoid about the thousands of chemicals he chose to inhale frequently for many years.

I googled out of interest to find out if he was a cut and paster, a crazy nutbag or lying that he had been a smoker. As it turns out Oliver happens to be a bored but wealthy cut and paster. As a reward for my Cluedo like efforts he is sending out a new 6'1" semi fish surfboard. Remember I like single to double concave Oliver, thanks
