Thanks buster, informative posts are always great. two mates a brother and myself have had a melanoma all have had a healthy diet even one of my mates run a health food shop for years and wouldn't drink alcohol and only drank rain water and it didn't stop him from getting a melanoma. up here in QLD if you work or play in the sun you MUST cover up. we still see youngins lying on the beach with no protection basically running the gauntlet, its all about education slip slop slap.

Personally I am getting results from these products by way of relief from arthiritic pain and immobility in my hand joints and gradual fading of ceratoses on my fore arms.

Had my first mole scan last week. Was a bit scared what they might find but it's a big weight off my mind knowing there's nothing sus. Now just to keep an eye out for any changes.

that's great cisco if it works but lets keep on the topic and that is melanoma. melanoma kills and kills quick when left. sorry but that's fact and if anyone that has a mole that's changed in size,shape, color, or maybe its a bit itchy should see a doctor. it doesn't have to be a mole it could be a dark spot that is changing. if you have some spots of concern take a photo or get someone to take a photo if its on your back and check them every 6 months. you don't have to live in fear just monitor your moles and watch your skin .

Yeah mate. On topic. I had a ceratosis on my right arm (dry and white) that is now almost gone and a black spot on my left arm right next to a freckle that did concern me. It is now hard to detect where it was.
I reckon this stuff works. It is made from paw-paw which is reknown for it's curative effects.
Yes, melanoma is possibly the worst form of cancer as unchecked it seems to spread quicker than other forms and I can tell you that based on my sun exposure in my younger years, I am a prime candidate for it.
On a hot and sunny day about 5 minutes exposure is all I can stand. Young people sunbaking is insanity be they fair skinned or black as the ace of spades. Dark skinned people can be just as prone to it as others.
Nivea also make a very good product that from memory is called "Skin Repair" that is SPF 30. I have used it and it is great.
Tom McArthur's Natural Products are made in Childers about 50 k from where I live in Bundaberg but I have no affiliation with him. In actual fact I first heard about his products through this forum from can'tswim4**** and he is in Victoria.
So all I can really say is that it works for me and if you try it you are only punting about $60.
Another great product I am using on myself for knee, elbow and other joints pain and the relief thereof is Rapigel. It should be available from your local rural supplies store and it is intended for use on horses and dogs and specifcly not intended for use on humans.
If you ask about it the guy in the shop will probably tell you as he did me that he sells more of it to people to use on themselves than their animals.
Humans and animals are made of the same stuff after all.
I have a good friend who lost his eye to melanoma and now has a fold of skin where his eye used to be. He was lucky to survive and was a horrible time for him, his family and his mates.
I don't sunbake, plaster myself with Zinc - its the best IMO and try to keep in teh shade or cover up.

Sorry cisco not having a go mate but IMO its not helping "some" people mentioning treatment for liver spots, BCC or SCC sun cancers on a post that was about melanoma. cisco i just think that info may confuse "some" people about treatment for melanoma.
Vigilance is so important. I got checked over by a Dermatologist in 1994 as I have a lot of moles. He picked up one on my lower back which was 0.4ml thick, (anything under 0.7ml normally hasn't spread.) He did the wider margin cut which left a decent size scar but it was all clear.
Ever since then I strip down to my undies every six months at the same Dermatologists office. (He's a wind and kite surfer, so there's plenty to talk about.)
Last month he noticed a mole on my upper back that had changed size and colour and suggested I get it removed and examined. Sure enough, he was right again, this time only 0.3ml deep. However, the wider excision has shown up some suspicious cells on the skin surface that he didn't notice before. Possibly early melanoma cells, which will either require 3 monthly checks or an even wider excision.
It is a sh!t of a disease, but one that you can stay on top of if you keep a close eye on your skin. A trained Dermatologist is the way to go, these people can spot the dangerous lesion early and know what to look for. How this guy can pick out a melanoma amoungst all of my dodgy looking moles is incredible.

i can relate. ive had a few clients rave about the natural products (despite getting rashes from them) for suss moles. i found out one has since died and the other resorted to the knife as the mole kept growing and is now not sure if it was too late or not. if it were me, and i expect one of my check ups it will be, im going for the knife and im gonna tell him not to muck around.
I've had 8 removed so far, but 2 of them turned out to be harmless. I get a thorough professional (as in Dermatologist) check every 6 months now (with the mole-scan type photos and computer matching software) and in between times my wife keeps a close eye on all the parts I can't see - this bit can have other side benefits too .
You got it real wrong about natural treatments, Melanoma and creams and potions. Melanoma's are seriously dangerous and usually need to be cut out by a doctor (if your lucky enough not to have had it spread to other parts of your body, brain, liver,lymph, bones lungs). Trialling magical natural creams could very well cause you to die from it.
Time is the key, if you see one go to a specialist doctor ASAP! They are being seen more in young adults these days and its not something restricted to old folk.

One of the keys to spotting melanoma early is "change." One should not feel re-assured because a mole has "gone away" with or without the use of some topical substance. Melanomas have been known to regress or "go away" (often the immune system seems to recognise them as being bad and tries to destroy them). In rare instances, the first presentation of a melanoma is a presumed metastasis to some other part of the body, and the original melanoma cannot be found; it is presumed to have regressed (probably destroyed by the immune system).
Sooooo, if you have a mole that you are concerned about, and it "goes away," that is a change, and not necessarily something to feel good about. You should definitely have the site checked by a dermatologist.

I just went to one of these skin cancer clinics. No joke it was a 5 minute once over and a yep your alright, $75 thanks for coming.
Im very dubious of the checkup I was given next time I think I'll go to a larger city based specialist just for the peace of mind.
regular digital cameras photos, with a ruler next to the suspect mole or spot makes it easy to monitor for any changes, and if you know what you are doing (unlike me) you could even superimpose one photo over the other for a close comparison.
then take your digital photo album along to your doc for checking.
Nearly 2 months since I've been able to go for a kite.
Wife spotted a sus looking black mole on my lower back in Jan this year and booked me in to doc (without asking me, lol). Went in for checkup and he didnt like the look of it, got it cut out within a week. Wife also got one removed from her neck. Hurt like hell, but glad it was gone....
Then got a phone call, wife is ok but yours is a melanoma...
Went back in asap, this time it hurt like f#ck, took a section out of me about 10cm by 4cm and 2cm deep.. Still in pain, but I was lucky, few more weeks and it could have spread. Doc told me to rest up and go buy a bottle of french champagne, he'd just saved my life...
Keep covered up, and get checked regularly... and listen to ya missus..
yep put a mate of mine in the ground last year he died two weeks before his 50th we both as kids run around in just boardies he was a ranga but it don't matter as another mate got one too but caught it early enough and I go to mole map skin care every six months had two removed but where nothing , its too sad going to funerals and as I enjoy kiting you are in the sun I also work out doors so need to keep an eye on it , if in doubt go to the doc best and first not wait and see !!!
