Saw a guy pumping up his North rebel 2008 furiously for about 10mins. He was pissed off as he thought his 2nd hand kite he just bought was stuffed. After I put the dump valve in for him he was stoked. He said thanks and how did you know. I told him I did the same thing myself, twice.

Saw another guy pumping with a Cabrinha for 3 mins, to no avail. He told me his pump was stuffed as its not going up and getting harder to pump. I took his hose off and put it on on the inflate side, again stoked. P.S. why the hell do kite pumps have a deflate????

Was asked for a launch from a tourist who took 25 mins to set up a 12m F-one C kite mabe 2005-2006 at Woodies beach 1 when I was over-powered on my 8 last season, I politely refused, he was not happy. As I was going out again I saw his girlfriend hot-launch him. Needless to say he was lofted and skull-dragged into the dunes. After that he packed up??

Saw a guy break his arm in a heavy shore dump, which was not so funny. He ended up lying down on his back, eyes closed in pain. The funny part was watching a 50+ nudist run to squat next to him to help out. Watching this guy open his eyes to look straight into an acre of bush and beer belly... THAT was funny.

Couple of guys I know, you know who you are, tried to blow their kite up with their mouths and then asked "can you get pumps for these things?"

Not to critcise and apologies if I'm missing something here, but what's the point in refusing to launch someone (unless your own safety is at risk) if you're not going to talk them out of trying it without you? At the end of the day surely it's better to have a noob launched semi-safely than have them hot-launch into others.

Watching a hot launch and then bum / face run into the dunes is far more satisfying.

one back line comes off at launch..

kite loops like crazy..

Yell out 'pull safety'... Person doesn't know how to use.

look of 'what happened' on face = priceless. Kiter proceeds to tell me that they are experienced. My GF laughs in her face.

I see your point, I didnt explain myself too well. I told him I was powered on my 8m, in fact 3 of us did. He put his kite on someonelses' lines and set bar and lines upwind then took 10mins to sort them out. I did tell him he was out of his mind on such a big kite, especially being so old (the kite). After he told me he knew what he was doing, I went for another kite. His girlfriend was cool and knew how to kite as she didnt want to go out on her 9m. I lent her my 5m and she had a ball. Italian Boyfriend (arrogant), English girlfriend (rather hot). The girlfriend held the kite properly but got it ripped from her hands and fell over when he made the lines taught. Id never let anyone hurt themselves (or anyone downwind of them). Cheers

Even when they're holding it on the leading edge but holding it 30cm from the ground, the result isn't usually too different.

Cheers for clearing that up as well, as has been said a million times on here we have more than our fair share of idiots with no idea on kite safety in WA and the less out-of-control kites the better for everyone.

Any pics of said hot English bird?
