Hy

From November until March I'll be in Australia to learn english. From November until January I'll be in Manly Beach. From January until March I'll travel around. At the moment I prefer the western part.

At the moment I have 2 Kites (11m2 + 7m2).
What do you guys think? Shall I look for a bigger one?
I would like to kite as much as possible.
I'm 75kg heavy and do kitesurfing since 1 year.

And do you have special tips for me? And do you know how the wind is in manly? How many days can you go kiting there in average, or do you have to go to sydney?

Thanks for every tip!!
Claudio

Hey
good idea to google 'kite surfing at northern beaches Sydney' first, there,s a lot of beaches you can't kite buy law
and Manly is one I'm sure.
You won't get 1/2 pumped up before a local has called the police.
There very protective of were you can go and how close you get to anyone.
stick to the 50 mtr law min from swimmers, surfers or anyone else, but maybe a greater distance I've heard for some beaches too, been 20 years since I've lived there so local kite shops will fill you in.
I still kite Long reef,Narrabeen when i visit the relatives and know everyone is more anal there than were i live now.

11 and 7 will be fine.
Dont kite Manly it's not allowed.
Kite long reef or narrabeen and palm beach if your up for a drive.
Once you get here you will work it out very quickly.
Ne wind Narrabeen
S to SE wind long reef
Do NOT kite through the red and yellow flags designated for swimmers.

In NSW there are No Laws Banning anyone from Kiting at Sydney's Northern Beaches. I've been kiting this area for last 5 years and have investigated isue re Local Council and state governments laws. Same Old Bull**** comes out each year.

The last 3 Summers I've seen Kiters out at Manly with No Issues. Just watch out for swimmers. 60 meter clearance at all times. Have Fun Mate.

^^^ biggest bull evet^^^

Even if it's not banned there (not sure if it is or isn't) it's probably not gonna take long for some inexperienced or I'll informed f wit to go ruin it for every one.

Going on a public forum inviting all sorts of levels of kiters and euros you've never met to hit up one of the most populated beaches in OZ is stupid IMO.

You've only gotta drive a bit further north for better spots that kiters actually kite......

Don't kite at manly if you can help it,
Stay away from swimmers , dont go near flags . Don't kite before the flags come down , don't kite if you not super experienced in gusts and surf, don't self launch . Reality is you will see kiters in manly , I've lived here for years and know the life savers well and they hate kiters when they are working 8am till 6pm, some of the comments above are right , some are straight rubbish , stay away from manly if you can go north, people do kite here but usually people that Live near the beach and clearly respect rules , follow the rules stated but to be safe just don't kite here .

Geez, you lot in NSW are really friendly and nice to foreigners asking for a bit of advice. Not.

What are you? Brexiteers dealing in lies and zenophobia, or just peed-off in the Northern Beaches that Tony Abbott is your local MHR again??

Get real - if you don't want issues with your councils, give people the proper run down at the start.

Claudio,

Don't bother with NSW. The wind there ****e most of the year anyway . Come to Perth and Western Australia during your time here and kite the usual spots in Perth (Safety Bay, The Pond, Woodman's Point, Cottesloe (Dutchies), Brighton, Mullaloo, Lancelin, Augusta and Margaret River.
Check the WA Kite Surfing Association website for some initial information, and when you get here just drive along the coast checking out the spots.

If you stay in Fremantle you can catch the train to Leighton (North Fremantle station) and Cottesloe (Mosman Park station), or hire a cheap car to get down to August/Margaret River for a weekend, or up to Lancelin for a day

See, not that hard is it NSW?

Great advice re Perth and yes it's got some of the best wind and waves on the planet , I wish every visitor that kites in manly takes your advice and stays away , as from what I've seen living here for many years not many really respect red flags and local rules . Simple facts really .

Lmao, I am indeed pissed about Abbott's relection here although I see him most weekends at my local cafe and sometimes in the surf.

Don't kite Manly mate, go up to Narrabeen. Best beach for you with your experience level. Lots of space, not many swimmers around and good place to get used to the surf (it's a shorebreak mostly).

Actually, I'd love to get back to Sydney and kite the 'beaches. I went to Mosman HS, where I learnt to sail/windsurf, and after Uni in WA had years in the inner city when the only activities were nocturnal. Oh, why didn't I buy that flat in Neutral Bay when it was $240,000????!!!!!
