Okay been several posts on this topic so I will be as specific as possible. I had my eye on the 13m lithium, but just had a chat with reg at kite addiction who was raving about the 14m gaastro Jekyll. Got me thinking I need to think outside the square. I need this one last kite to complete my quiver of VX's for the summer. Okay I will weigh 76 kg soon and ride a cardboard wave and a new sector 54 (sweet machine man)' kited for 12 years and have never liked the big kites, turn too slow. So looking for a kite that does turn fast for its size (17m that turns like a 12 lol), can fly forward in the window like the VX's but has some grunt like the lithuim. But nothing bigger than a 14m, not interested in a 17m been there and hated it. Plus I weighed much more then. Been trimming down for summer. It has to be as nimble as possible as I like to generate apparent wind and have decent kite flying skills and board control ( rode foils in the early years with no depower) you learn fast ! Soooo could you give me some suggestions, giving your weight, board usage and experience and why you love your light wind kite so much. Anyone ridden the gaastro Jekyll, big in Europe but not here it seems. Also I don't mind buying second hand so if you have something you want to offload given the above criteria feel free to pm me.

Try a Naish fly , its a great light wind kite and it works really well-turns like a smaller kite (it's 15m) it has balls -feels like a bigger kite and has some range too. tried one recently and have fallen in love with them - looking forward to getting one myself.

eppo demo the zephyr , great kite with a huge wind range im mid to high 80kgs depending on time of the year, ive kited 10knts to 24knts on it , even at the top end it still felt safe as houses, i ummed and aaard about buying this kite but its been my best kiting investment, around 13 to 16 knts its a fun kite decent boosts and eternal hangtime, its great to practice your tricks as it gives you plenty of time to pull them off before bringing you back down, or if you want that bit extra the edge 15 or 17mtr

Yeh looked into this kite before and just then. Too much for me, not going anything bigger than a 14, not looking for light light winds. Want something that turns relatively fast. The zephyr doesn't do that. Even considering a 12m lithuim.

Yo eppo no harm in giving one a try, Yeh its a big kite and I admit she's pretty slow from 9 to 12 knts , but around 15knts its pretty quick for a 17 mtr and gets quicker as the wind picks up, I've trialed a few kites and been surprised with how much I've enjoyed kites that I wouldn't have dreamed of buying and disappointed in so called leading brands

Yeh moons whatever it takes. Already at 79kg, dropping slowly from 85. Sick of being a fat married farqer so I'm stuck with the marriage thing, but I can lose the weight. See ya on water soon bud. Noticed you haven't done much winter stuff?

Cheers for that cauncy appreciate the input and yes no harm in giving it a try for sure. The zephyrs ability to hold in higher winds is its unique characteristic. Take the 14m lithuim, 8 to 18 knots and know what these deltas do near their upper wind range so let's take 2 knots off to be conservative. The gusts we get here could find you sh1tting your pants several times throughout a kite. Hence why I'm leaning towards the 12m, not a super light wind kite but with the sector should be going in that 11 to 15 knots range I'm looking for. We get a lot of them down here.

Bottom end on the wave is around 11 on the sector you'd easy ride in less, another kite I would give a go is a plynn Fury 13 ,I have had the 15 for a few months and it gets me going sub 10 @ 95kg the 13 would be all you need bar is light and drift and loop are excellent for waves.

Re the trx v6 14m above. Just a quick note. There is a 5 minute pulley less bridle mod on the griffin forum. Makes the kite turn 30% faster and you get a extra 2 or 3 knots light wind and more top end. I am using the 14m 87 kg 5ft 10 surfboards with too much rocker from 13 ish knots.

In light wind i'm using a 5'8 x 20" SB with minimal tail rocker, gets up and going no probs in 10-11 with either the Trx or Fury so sector should rock along, have seen a guy my weight on an airush 10 maintaining upwind on a sector in 10-12 knots,am getting some new boards made 4'8 x 22" will see how they go.

Rad,an what would be the top end on the 13 at 75 kg, I'm conscious of needing enough wind range for the gusty easterlies here.

Yeh used a 16m in Bali, tony was good enough to lend me his. Really good kite, flew very much like my recently sold rebel ( for a ridiculous price to my brother, bloody family, lol) but flies forward much quicker. Probably too much for me and it turns too slow for my liking. But for what is it a fantastic kite. Typical north feel and typical north quality.
