Gday all, Sorry for the subject title, but need to speak, still bit shocked
Saturday 3pm, had my first kite in god knows how long at Woodmans point today, managed to get beach 1 all to myself on a Vegas 12. All was going fine, not quite enough wind but having fun.
Noticed two guys, one old (50-60) and one young (20-30) drinking heavinly on the beach half way along the beach, took no notiice (2nd car park?). Remember thinking, typical WA beach goer. drink and stupid.....
Next pass the two were fighting with each other, rolling around on the beach, smashing glass etc..
Then seemed to calm down, not much going on except more drinking..
I was focused on my kite, enjoying myself, seemed rare to have beach one to myself...
Went in to land, got kite to sit down and behave on landing,,, good session.. Thats when all ended.
510pm..
Looked up to car and found one of the two guys hanging round it,, nobody else around,, hoped they would move on... Bloke started looking into windows of car,,tring to get in...
Then made a mistake (by myself),, I yelled out "hey &^$&^% get away from my car",, regret saying that now... came stright for me,, confronted by two guys now, one intent on remaining within two inches of my face, trying to start anything,, other waited back,,, he had cuts on his face,, def not friendly... tried the backpedal,, stil an agro f&ck... every time I lost eye contact with him I thought I'd recieve a stubby to back of head,,,,
said his name was Carl,,,, stocky build, dark hair.... drunk,,
kept going through my gear when my eye was turned, tried to pack up quick as I could,, basturd never was more than two inches away.... I'm ready, but I did not want to fight... the f&cker was wired
got gear packed, and up to car, unlocked and threw everything in the back,, jumped in drivers seat and locked door,, Started engine, guy was 2 inches from tailgate,, put in reverse,, yelled out of window but he wasnt goin to move,, inhed back two inches slowly, didnt want to hurt a drunked f&ck, even though I wanted to run him down.... Did it again, he hit back of my car with his hand,, managed to get out forwards,, got away..
Carl then threw his remaining beer at my car, I stopped, let it shatter on road in front and drove off,, finger in the air...
Question - I had plenty of opportunity to take him out,, tyre rod in boot etc... But two against one, no chance....

All I heard is "I went kitesurfing"
The east coast will get wind by about September.
Id get the local Kitesurfers to group together against those type of guys though. |

Depending on how busy the cops are, I would let them know.
Given your description they would most likely be prolific thieves in the area.
They may even throw in a patrol of the area in future. |

Woodmans Point? Nothing to do with Woodmans Point,
F*Łk assholes. Good on you mate, 2 on to 1, you took the pussy option and didnt try to be a dick. but remember, sometimes we need dicks.
Pussies cant f$@k assholes, assholes just try to ** on pussies, so sometimes you need a dick to f*@k an asshole.
dont be too much of a dick as trying to run around f*@king everything usually puts you in a lot of sh@t and makes you an asshole. |

F*%k WA is a pretty big statement mate. when I was on a kiting holiday i got mugged in tweed heads while i was on my front door step, they stole the rings off my finger and beat me while they tried to get my wallet out of my pants. called the cops and they found the low life scum. turns out to be the next door neighbours cousin who was visiting for the week. the way I see it... F*%K the east. personal choice I spose but prob best to keep your opinions like that to your self instead of posting it on a national forum hey.
on saying that hope they get the low life scums and punish them properly instead of a lil slap on the rist |

Morning all,, calmed down now,, made report to police.. Thanks for the comments, I'll stay in WA a little bit longer :)
And yes, i had the equivalent of a baton in back of car,, and yes, I wanted to use it.. But also have wife and baby at home, they are my priority, not payback to some drugged up loosers...
Police said I did the right thing, good to hear..

pizzapizza beerbeer !
sad story but a wise move, brush it off and kite away, they will never know what its like to be "flying the wind"
the "mongrel scumbag's" will have their day, picking the wrong dude to mess with !
ever seen the movie "Taken" - their time will come !
what's better is you can continue to enjoy a homemade pizza and cold beer with the family after an insane session

It would be good to start a clean up woodmans point campaign. Document all the thefts and incidents on a website.
Contact as many media outlets as possible with information and then maybe the police will start to take the place seriously because the way things is just taking more and more freedom away. You gotta stress about having your gear stolen all the time or getting involved in violence.. - and that is not what people are in WA for.
It sucks so much that you can't just relax and enjoy recreation without dealing with this kind of ****. Hope Aussie doesn't end up like South Africa.
I took my family down there and they don't even want to hang out there because of this this kind of **** and that is so sad. |

My blood boils that there are so many wankers out there that think they can do this kinda shizen to others and get away with it. One day we may get even with these "insert expletive here"... I'd like to see that day.
I'd luv to F...them up myself, But I'm an armchair pussy! |

Woodies is not in the safest are of Perth so it's a bit of a generalisation to think Perth is unsafe. Having lived here for 21years I'm pretty happy to say I've not seen much crime except in areas where it's expected (woodies being one of them)
Generally I follow the out of sight rule. If they can't see anything it usually doesn't look worth the trouble. Leaving centre console and dash console wide open with nothing in has worked for me in bad areas.
It's hard not to loose faith in a place because of such an incident. |

thats rubbish what happened mate, dont let that put u off, nasty and shaky on your own i have been in that situation and tried both reactions with equal outcomes, still feel rubbish and scared dont want to go back there(not at woodies o/s)
I have been kiting at woodies 1/2/3 times a week last one to years with no probs, no ov plenty break ins etc
Hope Aussie doesn't end up like South Africa XXXX off iandvnt wot over reaction if it was SA he wouldnt have wrote the story, he'd be dead
Perth and surrounds are the safest places i have ever been, over east is not much different, there is next to no crime in this country, get over it. Thats why when a granny get her bag snatched it makes the news, it doesnt overseas because it happens all the time
I really dont want to make lite of this blokes experience, it was **** and not neccaserry but we live in a very generaly safe happy, peaceful country, if you dont think so(i reckon most people do) go os visit a few others places and wake up to what weve got the best place in the world. W?????ers should be shot by the way
The council have got thier **** together a bit down there lately with patrols and that.
summer winds around the corner be packed down there, no probs |
