Just had 2 weeks on the cocos islands from the 27th of July with Zephyr Kite Tours. Most days I had 2 kite and 1 surfing session which made the tour well worth the cost especially when you get to surf with no one else in such warm clear water. The wind only dropped of one day so I surfed twice out of my 14 days 12 were with wind and one no wind day was the day we flew out so that didnt matter. Even got to use the 8m kite but I mostly used a 12m. Made some great new friends who I hope to catch up with over the summer. If you want a holiday with plenty of time on the water this is the place I will be trying to go back again. Thanks to Jen and the Team for making it so easy

Thanks for the review ljb. I'm heading there in a couple of weeks. Pretty excited about it. I assume there was no dramas taking a surf board then. I was concerned space would be a bit tight on the Cocos/Perth flight. How was the wind? Seems to average about 15knots according to graphs from their website. I'm at 70kg, think I'll get away with my 10.5m Core GT? Not so keen on taking my 12m (sb2) but might take a 9m as well.

It was a fantastic winter break and I totally prefer the Cocos style classroom to being back in uni lecture rooms - having major post holiday withdrawals!!

Huge thanks for an awesome time Jen & the Zephyr team Xx

i took 1 6"4 surfboard 1 5"9 surfboard for kiting 1 twin tip and 2 kites and was spot on the allowed weight every time except leaving perth to eastcoast where they reckon i was 2 kilos over so 20 dollars extra . nothing to worry about after having such a good holliday

Wicked place to visit. Nothing quite like "Cocos Time" when everything slows down.

Acres of flat water in the lagoon, great diving, great surfing on that wave, but not sure if it's kiteable as it's usually an offshore breeze and gusty.

You'll find a Seabreeze wind graph for Cocos Island hidden away here:

the left looks nice (although the weather looks very suss in that pic), are there any rights to be had? are they in close reach on the islands.?

Har! hey mark, Sorry i didint mean to piss you off - but just FYI the surf is still pumping - i had to surf it on my own yesterday - Urgggggghhhh. If only it were more crowded. 6 foot clean offshore wind and no one to enjoy it with me. Dave had to work - yes believe it or not he does do it ocassionally. So alas - it was just me and the fishes. I had to leave so many cos the paddle back t the spot is quite long after so many top and bottom turn combos, cut backs and ....well you get the picture.

Not that i'm trying to insight jealousy or anything.
Oh did i mention it was 25+knots . he he
