Great Video.
Thanks for taking the time.
Cheers.
Thanks, I appreciate your vote !!
That's the first time I have heard of the trim strap being referred to as a brake??
And at the end of the video it looks like you have already transitioned and have pulled on ur backhand (which is NOT a downloop) with no explanation??
I really don't think this should be in the newbie section
again was the 80's vibe I didn't quite get
not sure people really need a how to on downloop transitions but if they do this one isn't too bad

At the end you see a downloop transition, downlooping fron 11 o´clock, it´s not possible to go right if you have the kite on the left, it seems that the transition is done, but I´m riding directly downwind...

yeahhh, the next kiteloop vid I´ll introduce the skrillex vibe for you
It´s always good to know that a rider like you enters the newbies section and takes his time to talk about crapping (....and not downlooping).
Last summer when I had the chance to talk with Alby I understood what is a pro rider, and why others will never reach that level...
Nice and soft landing dude

Huuhh???
I'm sorry but you've lost me.....
If ur coming into the transition on a port tack (left foot and left arm forward) and u were just bearing off downwind, ur left foot and arm should still be forward and u pull on ur front hand to initiate the downloop. The video (at the end) clearly shows ur right foot forward and u pulling on ur backhand.......which means u have already switched or transitioned at some point

If ur coming into the transition on a port tack (left foot and left arm forward) and u were just bearing off downwind, ur left foot and arm should still be forward and u pull on ur front hand to initiate the downloop---> In this case, you can do a downloop transition but the result is riding toeside to the right
The video (at the end) clearly shows ur right foot forward (in this case it´s only possible bearing off downwind or slightly upwind toeside because the kite is at 11 o´clock and always at 12 o´clock or less) u pulling on ur backhand.......which means u have already switched (yes switched the board but not changing the course to the opposite side) or transitioned at some point

Haha my pro rider chances ended when i started kiting at 24 instead of 10. But im good enough to know what tricks need an instructional vid and what tricks (or is that even a trick?) just dont need em. Seriously its sort of a neat thing to do but yeh. Its like an instructional on how to stand on 1 foot.
And an instructional from a newbie with a camera wobbling all over the place with water all over the lens is not one that anybody is gonna learn anything from.
Why so much ButtHurt?
Maybe the critical ones giving input instead of criticism would be better, better still a video
Hi Peeps,
The video is OK, but the trim strap is not "a brake" and should never be refered to as one. There is also no need whatsoever to pull on the trim strap before initiating a downloop transition.
Easier explained by just saying "Pull on your front hand whilst doing a toeside carve to change direction. Spin the bar as soon as you are on the new tack and slide or hop back to heelside.
If you ride with speed into a carve downwind, the kite will depower significantly as you ride with the wind. (Reduced apparent wind speed at the kite).
As others have said, this isn't a "trick", but an alternative transition style. It has little consequence and is hard to make it go wrong unless you pull with your back hand to start the change of direction (That would be a kiteloop transition).
Have fun!

Only few things to say, the first time you try to do this maneuver there are some common mistakes like not finishing the downloop causing the kite to crash into the water, and because you are going downwind the kite could turn around making it more difficult to launch the kite... Another mistake is going overpowered. When you get more confidence you wont need to pull the trim strap...
Tryed my first down loop transition today. They are "ok", gives a nice pull. Its nothing compared to a backroll kite loop transition!!
Im gonna have a go at a downloop. Here's what I imagine. I'm at the end of a tack toward shore right hand in front. I boost, start to drop and redirect the kite toward shore. Rather than stall the redirection I let go of my left hand and fully pull my right (front) hand. The kite dives downward and to the left an I quickly decrease the power and level out the bar. I touch down left foot forward and tack seaward. I undoubtedly will get smashed but is the theory sound?
