Hi all,

I'm originally from SA & coming back to Adelaide this year for Xmas, I was just reading that kiteboarding is banned between West Bch & Seacliff - is this correct ?
Also I was planning on kiting some waves down south or mid-coast, are there any restrictions or bans down that way ?
& finally last question, general wind strength & consistency at Xmas time.

Good winds & Merry Xmas to all.

Yep as far as I know it's been banned for my 2 years worth of kiting. This page from KSA is useful for the info on SA locations:

http://www.saksa.com.au/?page_id=1003

I've just started down south...not aware of any bans and the KSA page doesn't mention any.

I kite on the metro coast and if this years summer is anything like last years it'll be crap: 1-2 days of 15-25 if your lucky. Someone from down south may be more helpful on what's expected down there as the conditions can be different to the metro.

Yes, definitely check out the link posted above. It will clear the locations questions up quick smart.

Lat year wasn't the best season, but it certainly wasn't the worst. This year has already given some great afternoon sea breezes. The best of which usually seem to be north of Henley / Grange, though not limited to.
Get onto the SAKSA Facebook group, where you'll find the super friendly crew are all helpful and keen to help out!

Merry Xmas
Matt

Thanks for the replies, I'm not a fan of FB so haven't gone there yet but did check out the saksa page - I have a few more questions please.

On the mid coast, I used to surf at Seaford / Trig,s etc, is there enough beach to launch at these spots or is there better spots to kite ?
If I head down south, what spot,s would I have the best chance to catch up with other kiters ?

Hi mate,

Regarding the Mid, Triggs, U turns, Anzacs and Seaford are good on a N to Nw. Moana is better on a SW to S, Southport is also good in a SW, but not as convenient as Moana. Please be sure to give the surfers down there plenty of room, and avoid the Seaford bowl if crew are surfing it. We also only kite Triggs when there are no surfers on it.

Regarding down south, On a NW to SW most guys kite at Rose St, just 400m East of Middleton. Goolwa is also a hot spot for kiters in onshore conditions. Please stay clear of the clubby flags and swimmers during the summer period. Sugars at the mouth is also a spot for TT's, but beware of the rips and currents that rip through the area. A few boards have been lost in this area.

Cheers Croc

Thanks Croc, i remember there being cliff,s at Seaford etc - can you launch from the beach there or do you kite around from another spot ?

Ha-Ha, no surfers on Triggs - that would be a first....don't worry I'll behave myself....I'm sure it's now way more crowded than it was when I used to surf it 17 years ago.

I will probably just head down south.

Just wanted to say thanks to the boys I met up with at Rose Street, pity it was direct onshore but still great to get out at one of my old surfing spots.

Cheers, top
