G'day all,
I am new to kite surfing and have been reading how dangerous kite surfing can be if you do it the wrong way. I have my own kite, bars and harness and would like it if I could have an experienced kite boarder to get me going in the Launceston region?
thanks, Brady

Hi mate

Clearly because Brady's are super cool

Welcome.

I'm in Burnie though so not much help to you

I am pretty new to it too, but have got to the self launch / self land stage and so i am happy to head out on my own in moderate conditions. That said, a little company is always welcome.

Generally speaking, either Greens Beach (West Tamar) or East Beach (East Tamar) are the places where kiters go to do their thing. The problem is that not many use this forum.

If the wind is anywhere from E around through the north to NW, Greens is a REALLY good spot to have a bit of a bash, especially if the tide is not at the top. I have done most of my bumbling around there and every time I head up there, someone else is out.

Just say 'Hi' to whoever happens to be hitting the water - I am sure that you will get plenty of good advice and assistance.

East Beach I have kited twice, and drank most of the Bass Strait each time. The waves tend to make it really hard if you are down in the water much, and I am down in the water a lot.

Focus on getting to Greens, if you haven't already done so.
