I've signed up to do the kitestock event. Just wanted to know if anyone knows more about it? - How are we getting back to Lancelin - bus? and where are most people staying?

I'm looking forward to it - hope to see you all there!

There is a bus that will bring us back from Wedge but the spots are limited to 57 and are filling up quickly so if you haven't registered get on to it!

The way we are doing it is to drop one of our cars at the finish. That way we got dry clothes and cold beers

The bus will be at the start to get your dry clothes etc. (they insist that there are no wet board shorts on the bus). For $20 I'd rather not have to worry about driving from or leaving a car at Wedge.

Please let there be wind! and not easterly bound!

Who do we have to talk to at seabreeze to get the forecast fixed?

So the truth is the wind for the weekend is likely to be **** or non-existent.....what now??? Keep hoping until 4pm saturday or just reschedule for another weekend?
Last year the wind was all-time in Dongara, and made for a perfect weekend with memories that will last forever.....
Shall we post-pone it to next weekend and hope for the same as last year?

Even though the forecast did not look great, the wind came through on the Saturday and we managed to get an hour or so kite in.

Otherthan not much wind, the conditions were great and the waves were cranking, managed to get 2 surfs in, got there a little to late and missed some huge surf.

It was great to meet new people and on a socialising level it was 10/10. Thanks WAKSA for a small but great Kitestock, if there was 20+knots I reckon the whole of Perth kiting community would have been there, it's the nature of the sport and you guys did a great job considering the conditions.

Cheers
Rich

kitestock at an earlier date definitely has a lot more pros than cons for all of the kiting community including the retailers
To criticise a volunteer organisation like WAKSA who are only doing their best to improve our sport for us is poor form

Lano in early December with heaps of demos, an Epic Downwinder and a huge party at the Endeavour would go OFF!!!

Yes , but waksa would likely have it in march
I'm critical and right to do so, take this years gig, how long prior to the event was it advertised, shirdt dates for wind and retailers, I've actually advised waksa in the past to drop dongara as a venue, you need to mix things up, add to that hosting the event at bad times with short notice advertising, we have some of the worlds best kiters basing themselves here in the height of the season , I'm sure attendants of kitestock would like to see them attend along with new equipment, shops arnt going to be motivated to attend when it's held months after product releases, also costs, taking into account travel accomadation, food drink, time off work, it's a firkin disgrace that a coast as renowned for wind as ours doesn't have a community kiting event where we can demo new gear in good winds at a quality venue with some top riders and affordable, least I've got the balls to tell you what most kiters want

if you spent as much time helping waksa out as you do posting absolutely pointless threads about the wind in dongara then i am sure it would be the biggest and baddest kitestock because you're full bottle on everything that needs to be done.

I always though responding to people's emails was a good start but hey
Pointless ? Your not wrong there
WAKSA organisers certainly don't look at wind reports, for a few years

typical response from a waksa basher . No indication you are prepared to take time out from your personal life of posting pictures about a tiny cafe and a dog with a hat , to join the team and help out . I can say in the two years i was on the committee i never saw an email from you .

Well maybe you don't look that hard
I sent 2/3 after the no wind kitestocks had a phone conversation with waksa too at the end of the last one here in dongara you can check that on sb topics
I do more promotion on seabreeze in the weeks building up to kitestock than waksa or anyone else
I'm certainly up to help set up another kiting event ,
with waksa?
Here's a starter
hold kitestock in the high wind season
hold kitestock when new equipment is early release
shops will then more likely attend
get shops to ask for pro rider input through brands
ask members and non members what they would like to see and where they'd prefer from a shortlist of venues,
cost , let's cut that and not make it so regulated, more of a get together
im not bashing waksa or volunteers, but if you want a good kiting then some criticism of which all of what I've posted is a standard requirement to a decent event,
I wouldn't go snowboarding in darwin
