Last weekend, together with all the powerkite boys, we had a very successful meeting in Sardinia, one of the two biggest Italian islands. The spot has a very hard and flat surface, here last spring a blokart reached 75 kmh. In certain ways it recalls Ivanpah, where I’ve sailed in 2000 and 2002 (especially for the dust when the wind blows strong…). It's not so huge, but for the average Italian landsailing addicted was enough. The place is stretched between the airport and some industrial plants, but in twenty minutes you can reach some of the most beautiful beaches of Sardinia, you know, pink sand and clear water... we spent there more two days For the first time in Italy we had a race with 12 pilots, mostly with home build yachts.
I’ve sailed for the first time against blokarts here in Italy. In the regatta with little wind (circa 10 knots) I was third with my Seagull Miniclub 5.3 square meters behind a blokart with a 7.5 windsurf sail and a modified Libre Beachrunner with a similar sail. A blokart with 4.0 sail didn’t finished. The next day with more than 20 knots I was amazed (I usually sail the Ludic on grass with big wheels) how my Seagull Ludic 4.5 was quicker than the blokart with its 4.0 sail.

So happy we're growing well here...

@ hills - Yes, a lot of fun all together! Many powerkite guys tried landyachts and got addicted!

@ Alan - I wish next year it will be an international event, likely in July or August. Be prepared! You can take a very confortable flight from DUB to Alghero with Ryan . See you in De Panne.

Cheers - Enrico
