Had my board on the back of my dual cab doing 100km/h and the tie down strap end/excess went inbetween the cab and the tub it wound around the tail shaft and pulled down causing the strap to pull through my board snapping it clean in half F################CK So do I fix it myself ? I do have experience in glass composites, or do I send it away and get it professionally fixed for the 3rd of the price of a new board?????????? If I fix it myself the board would only become my kids/small day board. Ive advanced past the board anyway and I was in the process of getting a new one! any Ideas?????

It may also be claimable under you car insurance too, similar to towing, the item being towed is covered under car insurance.

Sorry to hear Mark. IMO fix it yourself and let the kids use it.

Just take it into a board repair shop and get it fixed should cost around the $180 to $250 mark. You won't even see the repair if done properly , save yourself some money and remove the deck grip first . before you take it in.

Hey mate, I have had some experience in this aswell, having snapped my previous SUP twice in separate places. Anyway I used dowel x 3 pushed inside the foam to join together the two pieces. Alignment was not a problem and I reckon I got the rocker pretty close. The biggest drawback I found was the overall increase in weight of the board when the job was completed. Perhaps I over-engineered it, but its hard to estimate how much reinforcement to use when the original surface tension(strength) has been broken. Hope this helps.

Sure you can put a broken board back together. End result is you have made a heavy board even heavier. Plus, you're going to question yourself if the rocker is right every time you don't make a section. Sometimes you have to bite the bullet and see this as an opportunity to buy a new board.

We can always use this as an excuse to go to Torquay and try out some boards Might have to stay the night and visit the Odyssey Brew Bar!! Pretty sure sailhack will be keen for that also!! Give Nick at core board sports a yell (will text you the number) and tee up a trial. PS My boards never going on your ute again
