Are there fin sets to help stabilise the minion further

I love Brenno's reply, but technique will help. If you keep you feet slightly staggered (surf stance) and closer together (closer to the imaginary stringer) you will be able to adjust for the fore/aft rock and you will stop creating so much torque as you rock from side to side. (I have a 7'10" minion and am 6'3" 88 kg.)

It is worth it when you get on a wave

I am no fin expert but I suspect they would need to be a foot long before they would begin to help

Any of you purchased the 7'8 and wished you had got the 7'10 or the other way round

I ended up with an 8'0"x29" and glad. Originally was supposed to be a 7'10". Only very occasionally in really small p1ssweak surf do i think maybe it's a tad large. I'm 6'2"ish and hover around 100kegs. This is the shortest and most progressive board i've owned AND the most fun. Yep, i've had to work at it, but the results are worth it. Set up as a quad with nubster. Best combo by far IMO.

Actually, what do you mean by stable? Do you have a problem with:
- too much row effect? Fins can help there. C-Drive are fabulous for providing traction even at low speed, i.e. at the start of the paddling movement.
- lateral stability? practice a lot, and flex your knees
- longitudinal stability? try to move a tad back on the board (2"), paddling on short boards will bring the nose down more than longer board, you need to anticipate and compensate. also, stagger your feet, if you fall backwards or frontwards.

I tried both. Thought 7'8 was a step too far at the time. Spoke with Simon and shaved some off the thickness which made it equivalent in volume to 7'8. Now at times I think I could have gone narrower - then I hit a choppy session.......! I am 80 kgs and use to be 5'10. (I'm old). Best board ever.

I'm thinking about a custom minion, one that is a bit more relaxed than the 7'8 but not as big as the 7'10 so a I between size

not sure what I tried to contact simon but no joy as yet.

maybe 7'9 x 29 and 119 litres ? Best of both board sizes in a one board quiver for all conditions

or am I wrong in saying this is what the paddle pop was being produced for a I between shape etc

Has anyone tried a paddle pop and a minion? What is the difference in stability between a 7'8" minion and a 7'10" paddle-pop? I would not have thought there would be much difference.

from what I'm told the stability is about the same in the respective size in each model , but the paddle pop will have more drive and take a smoother line .
But if you add a little width to a custom paddle pop the extra stability will follow
reason for the specs as above post for 88 to 90 kg intermediate
