I'm thinking about buying the new 10'8" but I'd love to try one first.. I've heard it's awesome.. I've also heard that the new construction makes them the toughest sup board Naish have ever made..

I'm also interested in a 10.8 ...I ordered one .
let you know in 4 weeks what I think ...
164 litres 30 " tuff construction ...sound like a good combo .
i grew out of my 11' Nalu ..find it tough to throw around ....now
why do we need to keep going smaller why ?

The 10-8 looks good.

But what is the weight?

What is it about the construction that makes it tough?

I was told naish has made a very expensive alloy moulding machine to make these boards and it s a new construction ..
thats all I know .I wish the new naish website would hurry up .and up date .
the price of the new quest has surprised me ,cheaper .some nice colors for 2017 .
Im a sucker for green .10.8 Quest .164 litre .

Are the quest boards replacing the Nalu series?

No.. pretty sure the Nalu's will remain the performance boards and the Quest range is a cheaper and more durable option without compromising performance to much..

IMO this is a good direction for Naish to go rather than just going the lighter.. more fragile.. and more expensive way..

Cheaper.. more durable.. not too heavy.. and a good shape... win, win, win..

Totally agree with the move ...looking at the shape youd swear its a nalu.

another couple of weeks before i get to try the 10,8
but heard it is a faster rocker than the 10.6 nalu and a nose riding machine .

also the 9,6 quest is that easy to surf there will be a extra 200 surfers in the water this year
it also has less rocker than the x32 9.6 hokua and a different tail, its a cross between the 9.5 mana and x32 9,6

which one you after scotchman

Hi Tardy looking at the 10.8quest at this stage was going to demo one this weekend at cotton tree though ocean addicts but had rugby commitments so couldn't get there the only negative thing I've heard is the weight but doesn't seem that much more then Nalu and cheaper option then the Nalu so that's a bonus

Hi scotch man ...I just had a look at the website then .its 11.6 kg .for the 10.8 ..so that's only .200 gms heavier than my 11'GTW Nalu
which I paid $2200 for .so not a bad
trade off .thats not that heavy .I reckon it will take some punishment .the thing is with the quest it has better foot pads than the 2016 Gs 10.6 Nalu .
and you can put 3 fins in ..I think it will be a handy size ,I like long boards ,easy to pick small waves off .and at that volume and length it will handle over head wave ,so they say .also has a sail insert where the Gs no ..it only use to be only available on the GT .
so has a few extras ...I can't wait till mine arrives .

hey Tardy do you know if the Quest is supposed to have recessed deck like Nalu ??
i',m a bit confused went and Demo one today in windy, tide running out ****ty conditions great board no recessed deck though and only single fin maybe it had slots for thruster set up but i didnt noticed them !!
one thing i did notice was for a board that is tough and durable a few chip marks on rail but i suppose for board that gets used for demos this can be expected.
didnt get to catch any waves as the conditions were average rails look like they will be better then Nula and tail is refined.
now the tricky question buy a Nalu 2016 GTW or a new Quest hahahaha : any way let me know when you get your mate

hi Scotchman.only the 10,6 nalu has the recess ... looks cool huh.
GTW10'6 is a nice board ,if you like the look go for it .great time to buy a close out one .
i have a GTW 11nalu no recess.
its going to be 2 weeks before i file a report ,maybe someone else has a report.?
I'll be taking it through its paces when i get it .from small to big surf.
my 11 feels big in big surf ,thats the reason for me getting this one .
talk soon.

Hi scotchman72 and other interested folk .
got my hands on the 10.8 Quest today ..flat water and 2 foot swell .conditions .me heavy ,96 kgs.
I hit the water ,lumpy conditions .i did notice it was a little rockerer than my 11' Nalu .due to the rounded rails ,and 30 instead of 31 ,but it tracked really good ,came up to the first white wash ,and it smash through it without a change of direction ..and barely noticed the broken wave, once out the back I notice it was a bit rolly with the rail difference when i paddled side on to the wave ,,but soon adjusted . Stood more at the rear of the board .first wave it caught it easy ,this thing had speed. ,I took off ,it's faster than my 11'nalu .bottom hand turned and done my first cut back ,it came out of the turn with speed ,wow....I like the rocker line of this board ....next wave a little bit fuller up the nose I went ,this board nose rides really good ....with the smoothed out rails I notice it was easy to correct The Board ,and felt like a real classic .the indepth... art work on top and bottom are very impressive ,and does look as classy as my 11' GTW .i was surprised it didn't have the 3 fin option ,which was on the site ,but it works great as a single ,and found the fin a good match .
the rails are gloss ,top and bottom Matt .Its a great muck around single fin long board with classy art work .( Polynesian )and its fast .
I like it . FUN board.
I'll take it in bigger waves tomorrow .try a few floaters.

Yeh mate went the 10.6 great board you'll have to get some pics up of the quest on a wave !!! it seems to have more refined tail then the nalu will be interesting to hear more feedback as you progress with it.yeh looks like off off the water for a couple of weeks

Finally got the 10.8 quest out in some over head waves .today ...
It's a classic long board to surf ...walk up the back to turn it ...and it just invites you up the nose .
done a few nose rides ,so easy ...it catches waves so easy too.
Also had some good flat water days on it ,it actually paddles faster than my 11' Nalu .Its the flat rocker on this board ,
that makes it fast ,I did take off on a 6 footer and it out ran the white wash no problem .after a quick close out section ,I think my be a smaller fin would liven it up a bit .
but it does classic big board turns and will ride the wave all the way till its just a ripple ...
If your into long boarding this board is for you ,
It is a little heavy compared to the GT s but hence the price tag .the pads are soft on the feet .
will try a smaller fin next time ..it's a pity it doesn't have a three fin option .I would like it more .
i left the surf with a smile on my face ,loved cutting in between 8 young boogie boarders .
they crap them selves when they see a sup screaming down the face ,they sit right in the way every time .
on the tail and give them a big rooster tail is the go.
i still can't believe how fast it is to paddle ,and it fly.,'s through broken waves ,getting out the back .
now you know.
