Getting a little excited that the freight company notified me that my new board has been picked up from Jimmy Lewis Boards which was ordered on Saturday and now travelling to Melbourne from the Central Coast.

Very easy way to do business and CANNOT WAIT to see this one in person!!!

I'm sure you'll like it. When you get it, please try it in some decent downwind conditions and let us know how it goes.

As with any new board you need to get a new bag so I got a Balin one this time, great quality and very plush inside and it has vents at either end of the cover. Pretty good padding but guessing not enough if you wanted to throw it on a plane which of course is impossible cos they don't take 14 ft boards.

Enjoy Dave & keen to hear how you go.... First real session back on the race board this morning since M2O & had a ball in the ocean on my new Sidewinder in the ocean.... Fast, stable & picked up the runners easily... A huge difference in punching back out into the incoming chop after yesterdays onshore & just as quick as the dugouts as per one of the other threads.... enjoy :)

WOW, WOW WOW is all I can say!!! Ordered Saturday here Wednesday and packaged so well and it even had a sock over it for more protection. Rob this is a beautiful piece of kit the quality is as I expected but still thrilled with its presentation I have not seen a board that has as good a paint job.

I cannot wait to hit the water once I stop looking at it, I will fall off a lot because I will be looking down so much andRob at Jimmy Lewis is great to deal with!!

Had the maiden voyage today in very calm conditions with occasional wind gusts. Considering I was going from. 29.5 inch board to this new 27 inch board it was very stable and although it does move from side to side much more responsively it is very very stable and I felt very comfortable right from the start. It will take me time in a DW situation I think as it moves very freely compared to the last board but that is a given as I have also dropped 7kg in weight between boards.
Top speed today against a breeze and outgoing tide was 15km per hr which is only a couple more than I got on the Glide so I will have to see what happens on glass to make a direct comparison.
The rocker line looks good on the water and I was moving my feet around to try to find the sweet spot and think it's level with the handle but time will tell.

Had a great paddle thanks!! Where do you place your feet on flat water and DW, I found if my feet were forward of the handle it was less stable and not as fluid. Feet in the middle and set back a bit from the centre seemed to feel better and in small surf I know you would be way back.

Yes ,that nose will definailty be better for down winding than the glide ..mine catches in the swell ,I think the
Gide is a flat water board. And has a really flat rocker ..I can see you hooking on some big swells on that one Dave .
should be alot nicer to ride a swell...no more falls

Just looking at the concave in the tail ..when you get right back on the kick pad ,which is another nice feature ,it should pull the nose higher up making it even a better surfer ..have fun mate ...I'd love to try one and I am also looking for another ...looking at dug outs ,but getting in and out of them has turned my mind to others ,as I like to surf mine a bit ,bloody great fun ...surfing 14's .on a hot summers day and1 foot waves ..

Well that will be interesting to see which one you go for, certainly would suggest having a look at one of the JL the finish is soooo good.

Great photos Dave. She's a classy new log you've got yourself.
That looks like Flinders pier behind you mate? My old stomping ground.
You could've snuck round the corner and snagged a couple of waves at the Gunnery on the new stick man!

Hey Tardy
THis give you an idea on how the concave sits on water, I shot a few underwater ones to see how the air is trapped underneath it barely touches the water until you stand on it.

Tide was a bit low today but there was some swell hitting the point.

I was wondering what version of Glide you are referring to? I have the 14 x 29.25" V3 Glide and it has a healthy amount of rocker. Definitely more rocker than my 14 x 26" Evo and from these pics, it has a bit more nose rocker than the V2 Sidewinder. Even standing forward of the carry handle, the nose still doesn't touch the water on the V3 Glide and I'm around 100 kilos right now. It does very well in rough conditions. Especially cross chop.

I'm interested in the comparison between the two boards for stability because I'm also considering replacing my Glide for distance touring and would be paddling it in all conditions. I like my 14 x 26" Evo and it is quite stable in lined up conditions, but in confused waters and bigger cross chop, the Glide is much more stable, and it's also easier to DW on. Obviously a major difference in width, but the difference in cross chop is huge between the two boards. I would be interested in trying the 27" wide Sidewinder for comparison for sure. Such a beautiful board.
