Hi,
Just creased my rubbish Waterborn Evoke 10' x 32' at 170ltrs and now looking for a new board. So confusing!!!!!
I am 6' and around 85kgs and would probably classify myself as an intermediate SUP rider in upto around 4' surf.
Want to step down now to solely a wave board board that is both pretty stable while getting out the back, has down the line speed, reasonably responsive for bottom turns and grabs a rail for nice arcing wide carves. Not asking for much..;).
Have tried both a 9' x 30" Atlantis carbon Provex ( a bit tippy but ok)and a 8.5 x 32 Fanatic LTD Allwave ( in total chop but handled it ok).

Like the look of the Sunova Speeed 9.2 x 30.75 and the Fanatic Allwave 8.9 x 32.
Any thought???
Cheers,

Sunova Skate has some similarities to the Allwave....more so than the Speeed.

Thanks Gboots,
As a side question then, would the Skate be a better option than the Speeed or is it just personal preference?
Thanks

13th.....I can't comment on that. Have read and looked at both boards.
My gut feel tells me that the Skate is less performance based, better for smaller mushy waves than the Speeed.

Unfortunately I have not tried the Allwave so I can't compare. At 85 kg you could go smaller than the 9'2" Speeed, but it depends upon how stable you feel on boards. You may find the 9'2" feels like a mini-mal. I am 95 kg and have an 8'10 speeed and find it stable enough even in chop - but I have been surf supping frequently for a few years now.

The other issue is whether the shape of the Speed is what you are after. It is fast and stable for its length, a great board, but you have to get on the tail in order to really turn it. The Flow is less stable but it has "classic" surfboard shape and thus you may have more fun on the wave. The Acid is another step up again - less stable and more maneuverable - but I can't speak from experience yet as I just took delivery of mine.

I used to ride an 8'8 X32 Hokua (Naish) which may work for you in beach breaks, but I would go to the Flow instead.

Could you demo the Speeed? I think Core Boardsports sell them in Geelong (I assume you surf around 13th beach).

I have an Allwave 9,1x31
and a Speeed 9,2,In terms
of stability they are both the same, glide and manovabily Speeed wins hands down, you won't regret the purchase
of a 9,2 Speeed

Thanks boys for the good advice. I love the look of the Speeed with its cut off nose but it doesn't sound like it will suit as much as a couple of the others.
Might investigate the Hokua.
Cheers
