Extract from an email just received from SUPA:
Breaking news - $1,000 cash prize Womens Open
Downwind Race NSW State Titles
SUP Australia is proud to announce that Mark Mitchell from Jamieson Park Paddle has sponsored the NSW state titles Women's Downwind event on the Central Coast on 18-19 February 2012.
The $1,000 cash prize for the women's SUP event is a first in Australia with both men and women on the same financial footing. Its fantastic that sponsors like Mark are committed to developing the competition events here in Australia, says Will Anido, SUP Australia NSW State Director. Events such as this allow the best suppers in Australia to showcase their talent.
That's awesome news for the NSW girls, more than i think most would have hoped for!!!! Great to see someone jumping in to support the girls. Thankyou Mark/Jamieson Park Paddle.
It gets better for the girls:
SUP Australia recently announced that Mark Mitchell from Jamieson Park Paddle has sponsored the $1,000 cash prize for 1st place in the NSW state titles Women's Downwind event on the Central Coast on 18-19 February 2012.
But, Jamieson Park Paddle has also generously sponsored 2nd place $200 cash and 3rd place $100 cash.
Wow! Big effort Mark! Well done!!
For those who dont know Mark runs the biggest secret in the SUP game at Jamieson Park Narrabeen Lake!

Australia's largest SUP demo centre with over 70 boards available to demo from Naish, C4, Paddle Surf Hawaii, Starboard, Surf Tech, SUP love and BIC. Along with their paddles, Quickblade and Kialoa paddles.

The sport here is in good hands with facilities like this and operators like Mark backing the events!
Nice work mate!

Just a quick bump up as the NSW titles are this weekend.
It's still a bit off but Sat looks better than the usual conditions for a NSW based event.
I'm heading up Sat morning if any Sydney based guys are keen for a road trip.
Sam.

Well I did grow up in Sydney
But seriously, it's not about the title, just trying to support as many events as possible. Especially with the limited number of girls racing, some of us really appreciate the effort girls like Terrene and Elyse make to come to the Qld events and I try to make it to as many of the NSW ones as I can.
|
|
|
Who won??
|
|
|
Sam Parker - 14' mens
Terrene Black - 14' womens
Pete Morgan - Unlimited Men
Great day and decent conditions. Very well run event thanks to SUP Australia and SUP Central...more official placings to follow...
Flatwater races taking place on Sunday.
