So after my first tragic new board story (Fanatic Fly can actually fly!!!! see my first post) my wife two kids and I have been loving the fun of SUP so much that we are already adding o our SUP family.

We thought it would be fantasic to have another board large enough to carry my son and I aswell as some flat water paddling and small waves longboard style!

Got a great deal on a new 11'6 Naish Nalu GT, should arrive this week.

Has any one out there got any experience with this board, I am a heffalump weighing about 96 kegs, I really love the longboard style surfing, hope I have made a ggod choice!!

Cheers,
Kane

I once said if I could only have one board it would be the 11'6" Nalu..

I used to think it was the best do it all board type board... Then the boards got much better..

Still a great board... btw 96kg is not that big..

You can seemy old 11'6" AST Nalu in this post..

Thanks for the reply DJ
How do you find the 11'6" in the surf mate?
Stability in copy conditions?

Sweet pics by the way

Can i answer as well.........

i had an 11'6 and yes it was a great first board, but in choppy conditions i found it to be ordinary, and it why I went from its to an 11'2x36 which is way too wide, but it did what it needed for me.

Now i can surf better, i wouldnt mind trying it again just to see.

But if you have already bought............

How do you say this in the nicest possible way??

The 11 6 naish was my first board. For what I wanted out of a board it was way too corky and way over rockered. There are lots of boards out there. When your skills pick up go to demo days and badger people for a paddle.

I still say that 'if you had one board it would be the 11'6 Nalu'.

A lot of 100kg+ riders love it (96kg isn't a bad weight), longboard style wave riding is well suited to it and the rocker is ideal for dropping into little troughs especially with a kiddy on the front.

It's not a board you'll rip on but you'll ride with style and everyone I've pushed into the Nalu as their first board for small waves and cruising the bays has said a big thank you later on.

Enjoy it mate, maximum stoke for what it sounds like is your intended purpose for it.

Thanks for your feed back guys.

I fully understand that the Nalu is not going to be a high performance machine and maybe if I didn't have kids etc I would most likley trying to re-living my teen years, surf trip every weekend and yep I would most probably looking a different board.

I am no big way hunter

Most likley be crusing around a few dams, lakes and having fun in waist high waves or smaller, if I do get a rush of blood to the head and think I can takle something bigger then maybe my 10"6 Fanatic would do the trick.

I am really looking forward to just having fun, not to serious, and getting my son and daughter loving the sport!! Didn't take long to get my wife hooked

I got a really good deal aswell new GT version + carbon 9 Makani paddle delivered to the apple isle for $1770.

Who knows maybe in a few years I will be looking for another but from all reports this board seem to be a keeper purely for the fun factor if nothing else
