Took a GoPro on its first outing to a totally empty stretch of beach on the southern Goldy this morning. Not another SUP, Shorty, Mal, or even Booger within 200m, and had it to myself for about an hour. Good change from the crowds though the waves were pretty small, but did my best to dissolve into them...

Your topic caught my eye - for me, you've captured what surfing and this activity should be all about. No crowds, no hassles, no cares for anyone else - it's just me or you (go pro optional) on a board against the big wide ocean.

No way Mac. You must have missed the photos DJs took of those ladies in their prime mucking around in the water on a warm summers day in St Kilda.

Yeah, I added some xtra grip to the 9'0 instead of waxing the nose. Sometimes get a foot above the pad (especially when paddling for smaller waves) and got sick of slipping and smacking my face on the front of the board.

how do you activate the camera to take the shots- is there a timer or remote or something?

Yep know where you're coming from, only I waxed the front of my c4 sv. I may have to invest in some deck grip as I often walk forward not only for catching a wave that's getting away from me but just because I like to walk the board. Saw some fella out on a 9'0" only last week killing it in the small surf we had..mind you my sv was holding up fairly well too. Nice pics BTW

You can choose from Single Shot, Triple Shot, Video, Timer, or Continuous Shooting (where you can set for a pic every 2, 5, 10, 30, or 60 secs). It will just keep shooting pics until you turn off or your SD card gets full. You can stop/start the camera in Video and Continuous Shooting modes by pushing a button, so if there is a lull, you can turn off for a bit and back on when waves are coming. They're pretty cool tools I rekon

Nice shots indeed. Looking forward to you posting some video from that camera. I would do so with mine but I fear it would look more like a Jacques Cousteau movie than a surf clip.
