So apparently one of the biggest races, if not the biggest SUP race, on the planet is on this weekend in the States.

I've been strapped for time due to work but if anyone out there can share some info, Live footage links and the rest, that would be cool.

I'm guessing the online coverage won't be matching the WSL coverage anytime soon but fingers crossed for something online.

I just had a quick look and found these. That website is affiliated with the FB page. No doubt the organisers.

www.facebook.com/TheCarolinaCup/info?tab=page_info
.
wrightsvillebeachpaddleclub.com/

Apparently there were 400 paddlers in 2013 and 600 in 2014. Nice digits.

As far as races go this is going to be a big one, we have just arrived and from what i hear there could be 800 plus paddles racing this weekend and a heap of Aussies here so hopefully the Aussie crew put on a good showing!! They do have some funny signs around here.

We will be putting up a heap of pics and stuff on our Facebook pages if anyone is chasing more info.

This race is amazing!!! Not only is it a race there are clinic's and a mini expo. New for this year was a SUP Surf Pro-Am this past weekend where Giorgio and Izzy Gomez took top honors against a stacked field. I think it was the biggest $$$ prize in a SUP surf contest to date.

If any of you do go check out my boys shop Carolina Paddleboard Co.

The Graveyard is brutal!!!

Good Luck to all racers. Especially all south FL and Starboard racers.

Yewwwww!

Check out the water conditions on these great ocean and for the Carolina Cup:
.
.
Surfchex: (surfchex.com/) At Crystal Pier and the Oceanic Restaurant at the south end of Wrightsville Beach. This is the best quality and most consistent cam on WB.
.
Carolina Paddleboard Company: (carolinapaddle.com/live-webcam/ ) This is the newest of the group. It’s located at Jason’s CPC shop and has views of the Intracoastal Waterway (ICWW). This is a great way to see the flatwater conditions for paddling around Harbor Island. Great quality and it pans.
.
WB Live Surf: ( www.wblivesurf.com/livecams.asp ) This is our friend Tony’s site. They do an awesome job of posting surf reports every single day of the year at dawn, mid-morning, lunch and afternoon. Good quality CAM. Works with Surfchex.
.
Blockade Runner Beach Resort: (blockade-runner.com/ocean-side-beach/beach-cam/ )This is my favorite WB hotel and the home of the Carolina Cup, Cold Stroke Classic, WB Biathlon and the Surf to Sound.

Kim Barnes will hopefully be a known name after the weekend as well as Joey Huempfner. It is a shame that a super talented racer named Matt Arensman won't be making it this year. It should be a fantastic weekend for participants and onlookers. Jupiter FL represent!!!

looks like its going to be flat as a tack , the Aussies should get togeather and initiate a draft train and work togeather , each rider spending a couple minutes out front making the pace. Or is that considered cheating?

Pretty windy here so there should be fun bumps left over for tomorrow hopefully, otherwise its gonna be a train ride til the end.
The guys race on 14ft so they will finish well before us ladies do as we are on 126 boards.
Every single elite racer male and female is here so its gonna be NUTS racing.
Good bumps out front of our unit right now and its 9.22am so hopefully it looks the same tomorrow morning as race starts at 10am
There are some specialist draft train racers here, so hopefully the aussies can get pushy too :)
Yes I am on my new board tomorrow, first race so fingers crossed
X angie

Update
Annabel Anderson and Travis Grant claim big wins at the 2015 Carolina Cup. Australia and New Zealand take the glory, very fitting on this the centenary of ANZAC Day. Epic performances.

HAHAHA must of been the long boarders who jumped on here and red thumbed me hahaha..

I'm just really keen to actually find out more about Ange's new board and how it goes as she is one of the top female paddlers in the world and either 1st or 2nd in every race in Aus it is in my eyes a HUGE move to leave a sponsor that is so close to their heart and back them selves in board design and go out on their own. PROPS to them seriously could be a game changer for their lives and future in a really good way. Look at Danny Ching and his brand..

HOW GOOD IS TRAVIS.. not really known for his flat water grind is he? more of a bumps man. But to out paddle that field that has to be the biggest win ever!
Thought Connor would of been closer to the top to be honest.
MIC BOOTH WOW!!! new to Standup world and gets a result like that... MASSIVE and MASSIVE for the Brand Gulliver for a placing that high on the world stage.
Jake and Beau solid placings as well as All the Aussies by the looks of things to get top 20 you would have to be stoked.

Looks like a Race that should be on everyones bucket list.

Super tough race this one and the level of paddling is super high. Trav paddled really well and stoked for him he got a small gap with connor after the first 8 km DW section, danny did really well to push back up with them and really i though it was going to finish with those 3 at the top but the last 4 km made a big difference and George who was next to me at the start and had a complete shocker with me turned the 1st can in pretty much last place. Being so far back we both took a out side line on the DW part and it paid of with a bit cleaner water and we both made a huge amout of ground up and when we entered the 1st seaway he just managed to pull on a tiny wave ahead and he grabed on to the 2nd group while i missed it by about 10ft along with Jaden , Chase and Casper from there he pulled the 2nd group which had about 14 paddlers in it the whole way and then in the last 3 km caught connor to paddle in to 3rd which to me is the effort of the event!! Everyone paddled so hard and once in the flat it was impossible to make ground on the group in front as they were pushing just as hard it was only on the last 3 km with a bit of very light dw that everything got pretty close again but by then nearly everyone was pretty much floppy armed and legged. I also thought Connor did a great job as he was on the Sprint which was the same board i rode and my legs were toast by the end so for him to hold on with that much DW in the race was a super good effort.
Jake was unlucky to miss the podium as he put a good push on in the last few km to only be 30 secs behind connor.

Alot of fun but a race that really needs to be trained for. Massive turn out with a crazy amout of people in every race and people lining every bridge and river bank the whole way. Hopefully more of these events to come!! Oh and how good was SUPracer.com with the coverage he was not only keeping everyone upto date but also cheering all the crew on so a huge shoot out has to go to Chris for the effort he goes to for this stuff.

Hey Andy
The new board went really good for Ang and she was stoke with it, really it was so close between 2nd and 6th at the end which if compared with long distance results from last year lina would beat ang by a fair bit in a race like this so between ang training smarter and harder and the new board i think it was pretty good. Its a alround board that has very good flat water speed but comes alive in a bit of bump. We have very big plans and just want to do things right, alot of the crew who we train with have paddled them and all the feed back has been super positive. Once we have more finalized i will be able to share heaps more info.

wen i saw the down section i though the guys on the sprints are going to hurt for the whole race.

conner amazed but reality was it was going to always be too much the final dw run.

agree with you about sic's main man, to haul chase group one the whole race and catch up for 3 rd- well it doesn't seem possible

So far as I can make out, Connor was there with Travis and Danny until the last mile. He then fell back to 5th. Would love to know the details of how his race fell apart.

Now we know what the R really stands for.
Since Travis has moved to Hawaii and is racing OC1's more his paddling has gone to the next level.
And as you stated Michael Booth is starting to paddle well and he still doesn't get out on the SUP much yet. And Jake paddled well to be the best placed of the Aussies after Travis
