Short non-edit from the other day - 10th day of wind today - cranking to 30-35knots every day....
That looks like fun! I have never tried that - I had no idea you get so much glide. What happens if you try it on a short board - how long does the board need to be?
Were you headed towards Robben Island? If not an island, how do you get back?
Very nice indeed, PeterP, and you are looking even smoother every time.
We are in head-to-toe neoprene now here in the UK so I'm very envious.
What are the boards we can see in this video?
Do you guys ever worry about the the other locals?
Now that looked fantastic! Wouldn't want to break a legrope and see the board cartwheeling away in those conditions

I always like these CT vids - such insane conditions. Looking forward to the full edit

Yep great video and seems insane conditions
All great fun as long as you don't come a gutsa then it looks like a long swim home as long as you were not on the day's luncheon menu for the locals..
The boards in the vid are Naish 14' Javelin LE 26" 2014, Naish 14' Glide GX 29" 2014 and Coreban 14' Dart Pro 27" 2015.
It's a pretty safe run, the big fish are mainly in False Bay and do venture up the West Coast but to date none have been spotted on a downwind run. The swim in is about 1.5-2km and the water is very cold 10-14deg celsius so you cannot lose your board - leash is a must! Wind will push you back in eventually so as long as you stay with your board you're fine.
We had a couple of surfski guys get into trouble early in the season, falling out of their boats and unable to get back in - the one guys body temp was 30deg C when they fished him out......
