Can you touch your toes (and I don't mean whilst sitting on the couch with a beer!)

Straight legs, and bending over?

I've been spending just 15 seconds a day (yep, 15 seconds, sometimes 30!) for a few weeks and it's made a huge difference, probably added another cm or two.

Just wanted to share, as so easy, and flexability is so important to injury prevention.

And here's something interesting - while bent over, pull your head towards your tummy. Do you feel any tightness through your back? It seems like from the heel to the top of the head is one big long string tendon!

More than preventing injury, can't have a good SUP session without stretching at least my anteroposterior chain of tendon. A good stretch training is much better than the best gear and wave.
As you said Bardunyah it does take a few seconds daily for a lot of enjoyment later on .

I am 6'3" - my toes are a long, long way away! And besides, that's what knees are for ;)

Hey Kami, not sure you are helping yourself with that reply!

Perhaps we need it translated into French to fully understand...

Was just kidding my enemy/ friend Lacey, so please don't mind what has been misunderstood.
back to thread, what i mean ( or try to ) is aside about boards evolution, stretching is the key at 60 years to stand up paddle boards on boards under 7',
In the middle in white crushed one which was my favorite short board by the 90' (shared with my son, too). Aside are standing greenSUP 6'9" >28" and red SUP 6'5" <28" own designed and already demo .
Here is testimony why stretching is the key to stand on that kind of board, it's really worthing it

I can currently only reach about a third of the way between my knees and my toes.
I'm now on the Bardunyah program (plus doing a few things - stretches, exercises - I need to do to strengthen my lower back for prone paddling a surfboard after too many hours slouched over a desk. Never used to matter, but at 53 I'm finding the ageing frame doesn't like being taken for granted. Recently surfed lots more than usual over a three day period ... back ached for 4 or 5 days ... wasn't match fit, i guess...) And so, the Quest for the Lost Pop-Up begins..

I'm 58 and 6'4".. I have no trouble touching both palms flat on the ground with my knees straight.. I'm thinking my good lower back flexibility has come from so many years windsurfing.. Mostly from water-starting in light winds..

that's cool...but if your just wanting your hamstrings stretched for back reasons. keep your knees bent and put your palms on the ground and stretch from there..then you will feel some stretching. keeping your knees locked is not always the best idea

57 and same problem, same goal. When I attempt to ride a long board I just can get up quick enough. (yes tried the blue pill but that just made it uncomfortable to lie down)

56 years old, exercise should be a lifelong commitment.
Stretch most mornings with a balance of different cross-training, don't be too serious about it but make it all the time.
Most of all you have to enjoy it.
All so you can enjoy your water time all the more.

That's pretty impressive (IMO). I can't get my palms past my knees. I have just been to the physio to try reform Pilates and he said my lower back does not bend at all... No wonder I find prone surfing tough - I would also like to find the Lost Pop-up.
