Thanks Stephenseals, that was cool.

I used to surf that place from 1972 through to 1987 and absolutely loved it. Looks like it hasn't changed a lot.

Haven't been there for nearly 30 years but it still looks like it has a good vibe.

thanks again.

ET.

Thanks. I need to anchor off up there again for a week or more. Humorous memories of surfing up there in the mid to late 1980's with a local mate Chris. He always wanted to surf Seals while I wanted to go get smashed at one of the more open beaches. I have somewhat mellowed since then!

Bloody tempted to put the sails up!

seals is by far my favourite spot and has been since I was a kid. My whole family still all gets together there for two weeks every year to enjoy the surf sun and serenity of the place.
Correct me if I'm wrong but it looks like you got yourself a new board Steve. Enjoy the winter waves and I will see you in dec.

Yeh beautiful area, from Forster to Treachery you'd be hard pressed not to find a decent wave on any given day.
Of course these days I only get there in Hols visiting brother at Bulahdelah.
Your a lucky man Stephen

Wow - talk about a lucky duck. I can only imagine how cool it would be to live there. So many good breaks around the place, even when the point isn't working. About time we had a weekend SUP festival there I reckon!

Some of my experiences:

We used to have holidays at Hawksnest and drive up to Seal Rocks. It was rarely crowded and nearly always had great waves. We used to freak out a little when people talked about Ron and Valerie Taylor basing their shark documentaries in that area. Heaps of excellent memories of hot summer days on that part of the coast. Thanks for the video!

Probably best to make it outside of school holidays - to give the caravan park a bit of a boost outside of their peak times.

I've been wanting to do a surf-tag style teams event for a while and that'd be a great, central-ish place to hold it.

Up the beach or North Boomerang would be better consistency wise (leaving the southern end to the locals), with Seal the option if the swell is up? The crowd out Seals Point gets fairly intense these days, but the beach break can be just as good if not better? The point can also be a bit of a "funky" wave. Granted, it is nice on a SUP?

You even get surf tours going to Seals these days, though the thing that annoys me is the deterioration in the spear fishing!

Bad rumour too that some of the south facing beaches from Seals, which most people surf in summer northeasters, might have ridable waves when the point is not getting swell? Nice to SUP away from crowds?
