If the surf is nasty on the beaches, where do we do a BOP race? The reefs and points presumably won't work.

wouldn't there be reforms inside the bar / in the inlet, well inside the outer break, that could be negotiated on a race board?? If so it would be ideal so long as the tide isn't roaring out through it

I'm sure we can look at the tides for Sat to run the BOP. The area beyond the second sandbar [in the inlet] should provide suitable conditions on an in-coming low to mid tide. I know where I'm going Friday enroute to Invy!!

I think the Walkerville area could produce some really nice gems on a big wrapping swell...

Surf is never nasty!!. It is a a gift! Having the ability to take advantage of it is another matter. I thought there was quite a few points along the Cape Patterson strip that would be ideal. I know that Walkerville should be OK if the conditions turn out to be as quoted. I can tell you I'm not going out in 5-6 metre swells, Laminectomy or not. I'll gladly watch whomever wants to attempt that and even ring the Surf Rescue if necessary.

Some big waves, some flat water, heaps of demos and good company, all good for a fun weekend! Eagles nest and Shack bay possible options for a surf ! Cheers, Leon.
Yep Eagles Nest could be epic. Off shore and long right handers. On it's day it's amazing from mid tide onwards but can be fickle so fingers crossed. Flat Rock near RACV club and Suicides could also be good if wind isn't too south. Sunday could be an epic morning if the wind goes light NW. The sand is really setup well for some mental long lefts at last years location and it's holding a fair bit of size. There's no question we will be getting waves both days. I've got a good feeling about the quality will be there as well.

The water through the inlet runs at something like 8 knots and SUP's don't. So this could be hard. We have options so I think we will be OK.

What about Walkerville? off shore on a SW wind and needs swell!

Walkerville has some waves but it would be hard to co-ordinate people if we make a call on the day. Especially those that are coming down just for the day. Eagles Nest is a good option though, SW is still glassy on the inside and the high cliffs mean it's only gusty. Also the BOP race is planned for Inverloch so we kind of need to hang around.

Eagles Nest should be good on the high tide. That little bay is very protected and needs a decent swell for it to work. I don't think it would cater for lots of people though - there's only been three or four out whenever I've been there. Very pretty all the same. I've been out there in 35knott S/W and you get some gusts that appear to come from all directions swirling about, but not enough to mess it up. There is a good long right hand break that you can surf along the southern reef all the way to the beach. When it's bigger it will break in the center of the bay. What's predicted on Saturday is a bit bigger than decent so treat it with some caution. Take a look at it in the morning at low tide. The whole bay is a reef and there are a few nasty jaggered things sticking out, take a note where they are.

Just one more request for the suppliers of demo boards for the Inverloch weekend, apart from the short surfs sups (under 9ft) can there be a couple of 12'6" boards included?, more for the bop style events.....thats all ...thanks
Hey MJ Your going to be a happy man.....and anyone else wanting to demo. I'm bringing the following demo boards to Inverloch.....for the Saturday only. Simon Anderson 9'0" x 29" x 4 1/8" RDP LSD 8'8" x 29 1/16" x 4 1/8"......something new, looks and feels awesome. WoW 12'6" Race BOP and the WoW 12'6" Down winder that was at the Mad Paddle auctions. Thats about all I'll get stacked on the roof racks. Unfortunately the WoW sales rep and his van full of goodies (SA, LSD & WoW) isn't going to make it......he's stuck up north.....so I've got a garage full of 'em. Bummer if the have to stay in my garage for a while. See ya there

Hey Caltrano They haven't given up on having a presence at Inverloch. Hence my gagare full of boards......and any others their retailers may bring?? They have tried to make available the board sizes people have been asking for in this thread. It is a shame the man with his van couldn't make it for this weekend, some production issues have kept him up north.....they also do the SA range of short boards. We thought it sounded like you got sorted with the board you were chasing in your other thread.....maybe that one will be loaded on their trailer as a demo?? I'm sure it wouldn't be too much trouble if requested.

Deano will still try and get down on Sunday the - keen to try 10' carrier and or water B. will not head out with paddle board if the swell too big - can get smashed on my board at flinders any day. I think I can squeeze in a quick trip to shoreham tomorrow - will grab a couple of paddles and leg ropes and do my best to get down to inverloch on Sunday. Look forward to reading how Saturday goes - wind looks a lot better Sunday - hope everyone has a great day Saturday. Thx for the many notes - i am hoping to get a board sorted out in the next couple of weeks and have it for easter cheers Andrew

Well the weekend was a blast! Yesterday a great fun session at Walkerville followed by and epic in more ways than one session at Eagles Nest followed by BBQ and a few beers. Today another fun session at Inverlock front beach and another BBQ. The Zu, SHQ and RPS provided a pile of demo boards and they got a serious work out. What more could a SUP Freak ask for. MJ I still say I out KOOKED you ha ha. Phill Couple images Eagles Nest Sat Inverlock Sun

Great to hear it was a great weekend. Ended up back at shoreham - fantastic 3 - 4' waves - no wind and half yesterday's crowd. 3 hours later - nothing left. Was set to come down to inverloch but swell looked too big and momasfolly comment worried me out of it. Would have been a great day to put some boards through their paces. All good - look forward to some photo's Cheers Andrew

Nice photo's Phill They make it look a lot better than it felt out there. Was a fun day on Saturday....looked to be the pick of the days for waves. The local short boarders will be talking about that day for a long time to come.....was a War of the Worlds type SUP invasion on their quiet little corner of the ocean. Thanks SUP Vic for organising the weekend, the BBQ and the sponsors refreshing product.

Sorry to hear that Martin. If you let us know which boards you would be interested in demoing we should be able to get them for you for a couple of days. Pretty much all the boards that were at Inverloch belong to the local Melb retailers and should be available. The Saturday was meant to start at 8am and we didn't end up leaving the house until 10am as we were waiting for some people who were running late and the tide to come in so it's a bummer we missed you. Everyone was just around the corner at Flat Rock and Eagles Nest. You must have drove straight past us.

Caltrano, If I am going to attend one of these types of events I always make sure I have some contact details in advance as the days are weather and group skills dependant and there fore very location dynamic to meet the needs on the day. All anyone had to do was email, phone, text any of the SUP Vic committee, or the retailers and they would have been given a heads up. The SUP Vic guys did a smashing job with though weather conditions and I believe most would agree pretty well nailed it. See above images, fun was had by all
