you know like free style skis or snow boards. meaning not necessarily the fastest race board on the planet, but a board you are going to have a lot of fun on in gnarly conditions( and most likely to be in front in those conditions anyway)

I know the lucky bugger who will be paddling this in the next few days and by the looks and sounds of it, it should suit him perfectly.
And while the black looks sick, it would only last about 2 seconds here before it blew up! I think a paint job is in the future but man it looks nice in the black.

But I agree I like white

now for the crew who might know this is for the crew who dont
1 there is no foam to cook in side this board just air and some support ribs
2 has a air vent to breath
3 has a devinecell skeleton
4 Styrofoam cooks at 70 degs with glass round it
saying that you dont leave it in the car on a 40 deg perth day or in the full on sun
its going to be at the nationals so go down and have go on it .
good on you dc for having a GO and having the balls to take it to the nationals
for all to see .
P.S GO all the WA boys

maybe this comment was tongue in cheek - i am not sure
i think its great when people use video to promote gear - so credit due for trying
but handheld wobbly shots, no mic on speaker and sound up and down all over the place - a professional video this does not make.
2 points for trying - but unfortunately this level of production subconsciously projects a level of quality and attention to detail well below that of the product itself.
|
|
|
which is sad - because the board looks great

The Australian SUP custom build industry is a cottage industry – subsistence level for those involved at best and with Aus population and labor costs it will never change. Budgets for “professional” marketing are a pipedream.
If we want to continue the unique ability to have boards shaped to our requirements, local conditions and experiment with ideas we need to support the local builder's efforts whenever possible.
I think most understand DC is a great shaper; post production video management is not his expertise.
So my suggestion as one would assume “reflex films” it is yours? Do a vid for them for free, I am sure they would appreciate and welcome the support.

geez, while its not pro, its as good as most around. don't think you will find dale and co making claims. reflex relax

You would be hard pressed to find someone as pro custom boards as myself - i ride custom sailboards and have even shot some doco / promo for custom guys for free
i think its great that we have Australian based manufacturing of SUPS
I have seen manufacturers start as cottage industries that now make thousands of boards per year - they did this by striving lifting their act in all areas - starting out less than perfect - but with passion and yielding awesome shapes initially -picking up tweaks to the rest of the business as they go along.
So to listen to people that reckon something is " good enough " or even to regard praise of averageness is dangerous in the long run.
I understand the whole operation is run on the smell of an oily rag.
short of flying over to QLD and shooting a video for free - i will suggest a $70 tripod and a "glyph: - which is a little iphone tripod mount
Shoot the talking/ voiceover bits really close to the camera/ phone (so the mic can pick up sound nicely) - or consider using the phone as voice recorder 15 cm away from your mouth - and lay that over some nice action and close ups of the board
Stick to that and i am sure the next vid will be a step along the path to excellence that passion usually delivers.
As for the advise to Relax - i will never relax - as i am always trying to up my game.
I really do wish DC the best moving forward.

Don't think DC needs to prove anything he's being there and he will still be there he's just stoked in what he dose maybe mr movie producer should stay in pole section on the form
All good

Ha ha sensitive little possums
I know everyone on this little discussion and you could not get better advice than reflex's. Dale has a fantastic product that deserves better pr. If a qlder can take on board (sorry) reflex's advice and get a professional presentation together it would help his cause.
The board looks great Hollow boards rock love my aircore. Stimo i bags a demo when you get yours

Couldn't agree more. These guys are professionals who are top of their game.
Both offer solid info and advice on this forum. Nothing better than free advice from the Pro's!

yeah , no so much you mate- i knew that. while i only have a surf sup from dale atm, i have seen a hell of a lot of hard work and lots of after hours to build this mould and all the technical applications right through to the composites and the infusion. the guys didn't take any short cuts.
you see that and get a bit pissed with those throwing salt- none of it about the board itself
