Sometimes after a really long long day you get home and find a nice surprise at the door waiting for you. Today I found one such thing. Thanks Mac - you are an absolute bloody legend. I shall do my best to finish the board now as there is no excuse with this lovely brand new looking fin ready for action! The only marks on it are my grubby kits from ogling it 10 inches of heaven - just what the good lady enjoys

Very nice.
Is this going in the new one Ted ?

I got a thruster set of 9s last week. Haven't tried them yet but keen to...
I had a set that were fairly big but the s9s look huge.
Maybe to big for my office boy calves

And Lacey? What sides do you run on your LB and what size middle ?

If that is a beautiful board shaped by Arrrgeeee and painted in Buddy's ex colours you should hang your head in shame TD

SP - it will be beginning its life in the new machine yes indeed. I held her today in my hands as I shifted a few things around in the garage to get ready for sanding. Ummm I just wanted to take her for a spin. Stoked on the hot coat - its come out very nice - best yet. Will grind off the fin box and sand the hot coat back a touch then will lay down a layer of polish (well just another hot coat really with a bit more steyne) and then she will be sanded and polished and then and only then will she hit the water. So its probably going to be at least a good week or so before she is finished - if not more sadly. I really want to head away and chase the swell this weekend up the coast - which will set back the finish date if I do.

Have a set of quads S9 fronts and S7 backs on my 9 foot 2 666 , my favourite set up at the moment .Not sure how it would go in the longboard .

shaper dolphin 7' with cw x sidies. heavy setup some would say but i found a bit more zoot out of the turns rather then turn, pivot stall, start of again.

mind you im still playing about with the set up.

i would say for reference i'm more of a bigger fin man man

I tried the Jackson Close fins on my CW before I bought it, they went well. My friend kept them & I didn't get them coz I wanted to try something else

Actually saw him this morning & found out he snapped my old board surfing big NW coast waves a few weeks ago (we swapped boards).

I was pretty stoked...but yeah, I gave him $400 plus my board which I was going to ask him if I could buy it back coz its great in big/fat conditions. Bit Sad really, he reckoned it went great up there. It was a really fast board.

Finally finished my backyard special 9 inch hatchet fin this arvo after a few hick-ups sling the way. Good experience in the end if not a little painful at times. You can see how it looks compared to the new 10in that Mac sent me.

yeah small farrrrk up there with the iPad - must have had it upside down - whoops. Was hard to find some decent lighting inside with out the shadows ruing things - and I could not be bothered getting the big camera out. Sorry fellas. I have gone for the rustic finish as opposed to the polished look.Mine has a lot more weight that Macs orange number.

Lacey, hows big is that black apache?

An idea is use some rear quads for the sides and put a bigger middle. Xs or something like that. And push it back. Wider fin cluster, more drawn out turn.

Should perform a lot like a single but the little sides should give it a bit more release .

I'm think dave parmenter widow maker type setup but with fins further apart.

8.25 inches. its kind of rakey with some nice tip flex. i got noticeably better speed turns and drive. yeah the right sidies with it might be good in more juicer waves.

i'll google dave parmenter

cheers

Yeah, that size sides. Even a touch bigger.

The ones with channels look nuts.

Always wanted one. That just look like a speed machine.
If memory serves they were originally based if the Hot buttered drifta type singles.

I'm actually thinking about putting some plugs in my Merrick single fin and running the setup I mentioned above.
