Thanks fellas for the nice comments - final dims were 10 * 23 1/2 * 3 1/8. I glassed her with 10oz Volan. She will be nice and heavy I imagine.
I like tail patches
Looks like a great Performance LB mate, can't wait to hear how it goes for ya...be careful though, they can be addictive
Managed to glass the top of it on Friday morning before I headed up the coast. Starting to really take some shape. Very hard work glassing a big board like this - having another set of hands was crucial given that it was only 15 degrees in the shed. We used two mixes to set it off. Sorry about the low quality shots - will take some decent ones when the hot coat has been applied. A few things left to do now. Hotcoat, sand, install leg rope n fix box, polish coat and sand. So loads more to do but lots of the tricky stuff has been done already. Thanks for the patch idea Big Spazz. Stoked with how its come out. Glass it with 6oz + Volan on the deck and the patches were 4 oz. Should weigh a bit when its finished.
Wow Ted. That looks like a work of art! Mind if I ask approx how much the material would cost to make something like that? Would love to have a go myself.
Hmmm,my eyes tell me those deck patches weren,t just slapped down on the deck. My mind tells me if I know a little bit about ted a bit of time went into the placement. Good thing he did too other wise the greenroom ratbags would have been on to him

I would say you were right in the money there lacey..
Rhino that looks freaking sharp my friend.....awesome with an o
Hey Ted I did make a couple of shortys about 15 years ago out of some unwanted pre shapes from the local shaper. Cost hardly anything coz he almost gave them away. I found glassing and sanding much more difficult than it looks. Shaping wasn't an issue coz they were pre shapes and all I had to do was turn down the rails. Would love shape some from scratch. How many have you done now?
Looks a similar shape to my 10 footer. I paid $400 of gumtree. But I'm sure you had way more fun Ted
Thanks fellas - Vanders - lets hope she is ready by then - hoping so. When is yr new stick due? Can not be too far away now.
Stu - yes lots of fun indeed - as an office worker its nice to be able to do something in the shed for a change
Ctngoodvibes - that one is board number 5 and 6 is in the early stages of production as we speak. Details to follow shortly
Surfbroker - I am sure you have another new stick just around the corner. Where has our other board whore from Cronulla been of late? Any word from him? I miss his contributions.
Chrispy - Thanks bro - when you visiting ?

He's OK...a great contributor and a wealth of knowledge...as well as a board whore like moiself
Hey Ted,
Board looks very nice, love the colour and the shape. You should be damn proud of yourself young man!!
You been slaying that BGB or what ??
I have had 5 surfs on the BGB now and still no footage - I keep forgetting about it I will endeavour to get some this week and then pass it off down the line to the Sydney folk. The problem I have is that when the waves are good I want to be riding a shortie. It would have been fun on it this morning but I am down in the City for meetings. Looks like we have a good week of waves ahead so I will do my best to work from home as much as I can and make the most of it. I am really liking the BGB - best longboard I have ever ridden (I have not ridden that many though). Its nice and responsive compared to my one - it has a much nicer edge on the rail near the tail and you can really feel it when you jam a turn on yr backhand - it just bites nicely. I stuck some small quads fins I have lying around in it yesterday and from the few I caught it has improved it even more. Was hard to get a good read though as the surf was average.
Rumour has it there might be a camping session at a long right hand point break in a few weeks - if this is going to happen then I will keep it for then But I really need to move it on as I have two new boards on the go at the moment and I need some space back in the garage.
Ted bring it to the camping trip and we can share it around a few fellas & the Sydney fellas could possibly take it back with them??
Hoping to have a call from Mr Miller by the end of this week saying it's ready, hoping one of you Sydney blokes might be good enough to bring it up with you, ride in it for ya.... ;)
Its looking good Ted....& yeah your posts get me keen to have another go myself, the first & last go I had at 13 didn't go so well. I rolled the resin into the cloth instead of squeegee'n & insects seemed to be very attracted to landing on the resin before it was dry lol
Mick - that cracks me up !!! I think its time you had another crack. Lots of good info out there these days to help. Youtube rocks
Put the fin-box and leggie plug in today. Had some left over resin pre-mixed with the tint so it should be a neater finish. Now I just need to find some time to start the evil sanding process. Away this weekend so may not get to it till next week.
Another winning color...
Great board for some clubbing. Shame it won't be finished for tomorrow?? What do think this swell will do?
I think its probably going to be 4-6ft based on what the models are saying right now. Might be a touch bigger earlier. Its looking like 12 seconds so it will not massive. But the offshore winds will be strong. So you might be best to find somewhere with a big cliff in front of it Infact if I was you I would probably be heading to a certain right hand point break that you need to walk () to.

First job I had out of school was as a fibreglass choppergunner for a couple of years. Then I reglassed a fibreglass ramp up to a waterslide. Followed by applying a new flow coat over the exterior of 2 waterslides & the basin of a 6 lane speedslide. This work took 4 years during off season, about 9 months a year.
It kinda turned me off working with resin & fibreglass. I only touch it now when I have to fix a board...but I think I might have a go at a preshaped LB one day. Our new house is almost finished now & I'm planning an extension jutting off a storage shed built under the main roof that would be suitable for having a go
nice work TED looks the goods man well done. The deck patch looks awesome, see knew u could kill it. Cant wait to hear the reports of how she purrs, she looks quite refined for a 10fter nice work i think ur gunna like it
